Sounds like its tow start time. That way you arn\'t using battery power for the starter and getting a full spark.

I had to leave mine over night after cranking it over a few times, just to make sure it dried out and then it started, I also used some jump leads for the extra power, if I tried it without the jump leads would not kick over.

Whilst your at it can you possibly check which ht lead goes to what plug I think I may have got mine mixed up DOH.

It may be worth following the procedure in the sticky seciton word for word, I did and it eventually worked but make sure you dont get confused which ht lead goes to which plug like me.

Steve, did you put new plugs in?

I reckon you should try it again. Take out plugs, egi fuse. Crank it over for around 15 secs. Wait around 10 mins, crank over again for 15 sec, wait another few mins. Place new, cleaned (if reusing old ones) plugs in. All leads back on correctly and EGI fuse back in. Definitely get jump leads as you need good power.

Also, I find changing plugs from above easier.

HTH!

Steve Burnett

Gonna try it tomorrow I think. My father in law to be actually changed the plugs over for me. I just could not! Don\'t think big hand help.
I\'ll try that tomorrow Freddy and let you all know how I get on. For just now the cars sitting with the plugs out hopefully letting some fuel dry out.

Right, Steve.

What does it sound like when you turn the engine ( with the plugs in)?

Can you hear the pulses  - nye-nye-nye-nye-nye-nye?
or is it smooth, like Whirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr?

If its smooth, then the petrol has washed away the oil that helps the seals, and you have very little compression.

Do you know where the boost gauge goes into the manifold?  Now take that little rubber pipe off, and get another rubber pipe, a small syringe, and now put about 5 or 10 ml of oil in the syringe and pump it in there.

Now try and start it again. It should sound like pulsing again now, and it might even start.

Steve Burnett

I have not tried again today.
I am going to try tomorrow I think.
I\'ll turn it over with the fuse removed then put a little oil into the spark plug holes with a syringe. Heat the plugs up, refit the plugs and fuse and try and get her going, I\'ll also get jump leads on the car. If no joy then I\'ll try a bump start, only thing being that its about to snow here so that make thing a bit hard for pushing.

Thanks for all your help.
I can\'t see why it won\'t start but then my car does have a habit of pi**ing me off!

Put Some Coke In The Inlet Steve It Will Work!  I Was Given This Info From A Very Reliable Source That Got My Old Bad Boy Through The Sva!  I Am Desperate To See If It Works For Someone Else!

whoever said about installing plug wires wrong, dont worry - wire installation is fool proof.

There are 3 coils, the centre one which does both of the leading plugs - both of these fire at the same time so just plug the wires into the bottom plugs.

The coil infront of the middle one is for the front rotor trailing, the coil behind it for the rear rotor trailing. Easy Peasy!

mm I thought it was the trailing that fire at the same time?

ITS ALIVE, ITS ALIVE!!!!!

Got it going, left two days mind, put some oil in the plug holes, heated the plugs up a bit and had a battery booster on it. Started first time with lots of smoke. Took it for a good drive. I have since restarted it and taken it for a small drive no probs.

Thanks to you all for help, and a big thanks to the father in law to be as he actually put the plugs in and out as my big hands could not get them in or out with out some colourful language.

grinder

Glad to hear you got it sorted :D

Good one Steve.

Sometimes I need to move my car, so I cant let it warm up before switching off.

So here\'s what I do...

Before switching off, gently get revs up to 2 or 3k, then turn key off and completely floor it at the same time.

Also, every time I start it , I do this..

Hold pedal completely flat, then turn the key while holding flat, then let pedal go completely while still holding the key and it should start up.

My car seldom flooded so I dont really know if this is making a difference ....
