Apexi AVC-R not controlling boost properly?

Righto, further on from the idling problem which has now been fixed, my AVC-R now doesn\'t want to control the boost.
Its set up to limit boost to 0.75 bar, with 71% solenoid duty.
However, at about 0.3-0.4 bar, the solenoid is clicking like crazy and as soon as I get to 0.75 bar, it carries on going and stops at the boost limit on the PowerFC (1 bar).
I\'ve checked all connections and they\'re fine (and correct), and presumably as the solenoid is clicking, then that too must be connected.
Could it be possible that the solenoid is broken? I\'m going to test it tomorrow with one borrowed off a friend, but if it is, where would I get a replacement Apexi solenoid from?

I think i have one, but i wasn\'t too keen on the results i got with it. I can send it you to test if its the problem. pm me with your email address and i\'ll send you some photos.

I\'ve already got one to borrow for the moment thanks :) , and once we\'ve tried that one we\'ll see what happens.

Yeah, thats the bugger. I\'m not sure if mine is not working, or there is a problem with the lines going to the solenoid

shaunwil

If you want it just give me a shout once tested. I\'d go more for the profec b though. The apexi just doesn\'t control the boost very well.

I had an AVC-R on my MR2 for a week, its the most awful controller to setup, I gave up in the end as I could never get it to work 100%.  Most of the people who had them working successfully turn off the self learning mode and program them manually on the road, putting solinoid duty in at each rev point for each gear, takes ages but once done thats it apparently, I didn\'t have the patience.  Good luck.

Its been working fine for nearly a year though, it only started doing it yesterday

ah right I assumed you were just fitting it and not getting it to work.

Welsh Dan

Nah, I found that its been ok until now. I\'ve just checked the connections and they\'re all fine with no kinks and i\'ve checked the connections to the wastegate. Someone suggested that the wastegate could be jammed. Presumably as I can hear it chattering its not jammed shut?

hello mate i had one on my evo and pulsar.   They are a pig to set up but i have figured out how to do it quite well.

Right first thing is to check your set up   Go to settings and select NE point this is how you tell the contoller when to work.  What you have to do is adjust it for when you want it to control boost so as a start set it to about 2500 rpm and gradually take it up to 8000rpm

next

Go to our boost setting  A or b go to the bit where you have to enter duty cycle and what boost you want to run if its set up correctly the duty figure shouldnt be there it will be 3 stars?

let me know if not i will tell you the rest

Cheers Jamie

But its been on the car and working for nearly a year. It\'s been set up previously and I haven\'t changed the settings on it. I\'ve not got a problem with setting it up as such.

Madden

is the duty cycle figure stars or a number

Welsh Dan

It\'s set at 71% and as far as I remember, was set like that by Ross @ Dragon.

We\'ve checked the solenoid and replaced it and its still doing it. If I increase the boost, it appears that it can control it better and it will let the wastegate vent it then, but it seems to be having real problems sticking to 0.75 bar?
