Quote from: BobfishI told my insurer it was a 1300cc and they just did it?

I agree, if its REGISTERED as a 2.6 then it will be harder, but at the end of the day - its still a 1.3 by capacity. You could argue the logbook is incorrect.

who are you with as id like to find an insurer who would whack it down as 1.3 with no probs.

spoke to churchill today and i was saying well my log book says 1.3 and they said well because its a rotary engine our system just says 2354, but that will be fine as its the correct model ( i was thinking good this is recorded) then he says oh you need to be over 25 for this car! nooooo.

bobfish you are so close to me, i go through watford everyday, i live about 4 miles away, by any chance do you know somewhere that will do wheel refurbs?

Bobfish

Anthony, i told Firebond earlier it was a 1.3 they didnt say anything about it.

Where are you then? Im insured with Adrian Flux at 20 at the moment, try them.

I dont know anywhere local that does wheel refurbs no - i do my own.

hmm i wonder if i should ring firebond tomorrow and just tell them to change it to 1.3 as thats whats on my log book, see if the quote goes down.

adrian flux are saying £2500 :)

How FCUK\'d are they? Mine were trashed when I bought them 7 months ago, one of the rims had a dent in the rim (where the  tyre fits) and another had a healthy weight reduction experiance with a kurb!! Took me a week to get them sorted & on the car!!
all I did was straiten the dent with a hide mallet, and the seriously curbed one I had to have the lip ally welded to build up the face, then I used a grinder to get it somwhere near the shape it sould be, and finished it off with a file, then wet \'n\' dry and finaly mirror polished it........ looks good as new now!!

Am insured with Elephant, for a 2354cc engine, for another 10 days then I\'ll change to Keith Michaels insurance brokers, who did not even bother to ask what size engine it is because they have a clue as to what an RX7 is!!  :D

You younger fellas pay a lot for insurance, mine in £1200 fully comp and used for commuting, 26, 6 points and all mods quoted and covered! not bad eh, and now there is NO chance of my insurance company turning around and saying \'sorry this car is a 2616cc engine not a 2354cc, so your policy is void ... see ya laters!!\' Now if that scenario ever occurs, I get my money no problem and an insurance broker stays alive  :p

I see that there is quite an RX7 community around Watford/Pinner/Ricky here .... should organise a mini-meet some time.

Mine\'s registered as 2616cc as it\'s a UK car, it\'s insured through a company that don\'t really care about the engine size just the BHP and miles I will do in it.

I know how bad insurers are at getting out of paying up and if you think that taking them to court if they refuse to pay out due to void insurance policies would be cheaper than the saving made getting your FD insured as 2354cc (which inceidently I was told shows up as group 16 not 20) then go ahead.

I appreciate that nobody likes paying over the odds for insurance but at the end of the day we all know that these cars are about as high up as you can go in insurance terms. The only reason that the premiums aren\'t double what they are is because the value of the cars is dropping through the floor.

cheers

Surely the important thing here is that the car is insured correctly??? If your company is quoting 2354 IT IS UP TO YOU TO MAKE THEM UNDERSTAND they are quoting the wrong car, at the end of the day the company has a \'get out clause\' - \'failure to disclose correct details will invalidate your policy\'

Bobfish

my point exactly, but noone seems to care nor understand.

The car IS a 1.3, always will be, never will change (unless you change the engine)

regardless of whether the insurance company consider it a 2616 or a 2354 engine size, agreeing to this IS DISCLOSING INCORRECT DETAILS!!!!

Am i right in thinking that the 2354cc  is the 12A engine size? if a 13B is 2608cc, but can be registered as a 1300cc, what is the equevilent 12a cc?Please,
Thanks Bob

MikeLMR

no, 12a is 1146cc eg. 2292cc   10a is 982cc or 1964cc

well i told them my was a 1.3 today and they said it will be down as a 2.6 but my log book as like that because its an import blah blah. and they said i WOULD definitely be covered (there calls are recorded) so i cant do anymore.

when i get this beast insured yeah we should organise a mini meet sometime when its a bit warmer, march or something ? :)

ro284

Thanks for that Mike, always wondered!
