What octane boosters do people use and where online/near Watford can I get them from ?

Was thinking of getting some millers, but the only one I could find on their website was VSP which the description makes out to primarilly be a lead replacement with 2 octane boost (I want to keep my cat for the moment).

I don\'t need urgently, just for when I come to track the car, so hopefully some time towards the end of this month (work dependent - sodding OS upgrades :(  )

I use Millers Octane+. Fairly freely available, but Scoobymania in Nottingham will sell you 10 bottles for around £25, which is pretty good.

Here towards the bottom of the page.

Looked fine at £2.44 a bottle, thoguh a little surprised there was no discount for a case of 10. (I also failed to notice that right at the bottom of the page it says VAT not included)

I emailed them to find out how much it would cost be including postage - £38.07 is a hell of a lot more than I expected

Im hopefully going into business soon dealing with car cleaning products as well as octane boosters.
Will be selling a very good one that makes quite difference but wont blow ya motor, tried in mine and works great. still waiting for test results but we currently believe that if used at 10% booster to your 97ron it will get you 105.
price tba but will probably be £5 per lit or £22.50 for 5 lit.

Let me know any interest or ideas

So 7 litres per tank ?

Adster

yeah i guess.
all rough figures at the mo im affraid, all i know is i work for a tuning company and i sold some to a guy running only a slightly tuned car who hadn\'t done a 1/4 mile before and he got fastest time of the day at his club meet.

I use NF race which I regard as better than Millers (which is my backup choice as it\'s cheap)  NF is about 13 pounds a bottle, with the bottle doing 3-5 tanks (if spread over 5 tanks should increase optimax up to around 100RON).
There are a few places that will do it mail order, I get it from a mate in Edinburgh but let me know if you want some and I\'ll speak to him.  He will discount it if you buy multiple bottles, but his profit margin isn\'t high (IIRC he can do 10 bottles for 120 plus postage) .

Let me know if you are interested and I\'ll see what he can do.

OK, when I was running my heavily modified scoob on track, I used to use a full bottle of NF per tank.

We found that NF gave better knock/pinking/det redcution than Millers.

Millers is a good product dont get me wrong. But we found that the NF (Nitrous Formula) gave better ignition figures.

Even used day to day it gave better results.

Ahh NF is Nitrous Formula - I should have guessed.  I seem to remember Power Engineering in Uxbridge sell it, though I could do with seeing if I\'m going to keep the big boost pullet on my MX-5 before going there (as that\'s where I get it\'s 5th injector tuned).

12-13 quid per tank at a track day (which is where I want to use it) isn\'t too bad as day to day I don\'t need it (yet).

A whole bottle per tank might be a bit overkill (depends how your car is setup), I have to run 1/5 a bottle per tank for normal use, and just double the dosage when on track.

I feel that track days cost enough on fuel at 6-8mpg without throwing adding a bottle every few miles (if it\'s not necessary).  Albeit I\'ve only done about 500 miles on-track this summer.  Will hopefully be a lot more next year :D

JimboRX-7

I purchased a load of Millers octane plus to get it at a reduced price.  Unfortunately I got carried away and didn\'t realise with my limited mileage insurance and mpg average of 15.7, I have almost 2 years supply.

I\'m trying to shift some of it, so I can do 5 bottles for £15, including postage.  PM me if interested.

scooby_si

problem with NF is getting hold of the bugger it\'s like rocking horse poo (slight exaggeration) in the UK i\'m still waiting for a box of it from a group buy on scoobynet but it\'s gone very quiet......
As i recall you may get people who will offer it cheaper if you are buying large quantities but you wont find this going public as i believe there is supposed to be a minimum price agreement or suminbut wotever as i say currently proving ellusive for me............But will be my booster of choice!

It was NF I used and thought it was good apart from the smell could get a little over powering.  I would use 1/4 bottle per tank full in a modified car, seemed to do the trick.
