Have booked my Rx in next week to get some rear speakers fitted and also to get a new arial fitted as the arial doesn\'t go up when I try to use the radio

Once thats done will I get a normal FM signal or will they need to do something else as it\'s a jap import?

I\'m gonna annoy you lot with the amount of Q\'s I have :D

grinder

they will need to chip the radio as it has a different FM range ( for example 60 - 85 - where ours is 90 - 106 )

I THINK

its just that the next door has the same issue

is yours a mini disc ????

No mines just normal CD headunit - Think it\'s a Sony item - was put in when the car was in the uk.

So would a stereo shop know how tyo change the FM settings or will they need a special bit of kit?

grinder

i think they just \'chip\' it so to say !!

i assume most decent shops would do it ( not halfords for example )

Dont worry Halfords aren\'t doing it. I\'ve used these guy\'s that are doing it a lot so they should be ok - hopefully :)

If your stereo is a UK model tehn there\'s nothing to do.  If it\'s a Japanese one, then you\'ll need a Wave Expander, which is a box that sits on your arial (between the arial and your stereo - with a feed off for power).  What it does is increase the wave band by 18, so you still have a more restrictive frequency, your stereo will how the wrong tunig  (out by 18), but you\'ll be able to listen to most UK radio stations.

The Japanese band is a LOT small than ours.  76.9-90.0 from what I remember (last looked at mine a couple of days ago)
