Hi,

I haven\'t had my rex long and I just wondered if anyone else has the same symptoms.

If i\'m waiting at traffic lights and then accelerate, the first turbo will spin up. If I then ease off to a static speed of say 30 mph I\'ll get a pretty strong smell of petrol entering the car.

This being my first rex I\'m wondering if this is normal behaviour or potentially a problem?

Thanks in advance,

Darran.

Martiny

Potential problem - my guess is there is a fuel injector leaking.

Is this a FD? Is the car running rich? I ask cuz mine does the same found out it was only me bein paranoid.

DarranJones

Yep it\'s an FD.

Fuel injectors? Sounds ominous. How would I see if they\'re leaking?

I am having the same sort of poblem with a fuel smell, i was thinking it was a injector problem, I am gettig really crap fuel consumption aswell.
Does anyone know if you can just replace the O-rings on the injectors or is it just best to change them for new ones.
Also I have done some mods to my car and I need to get it set up with my Apexi would it be worth getting larger injectors? I am keeping the stock turbos, I have Greddy FMIC, induction kit, exhaust.
Any help would be appreciated.

Martiny

Ok , what  I meant what the O-rings for one of the injectors is leaking. Yes I think you can replace just the o-rings. Quite a bit of labour to get to them, though.

Darran, I doubt if you could actually see it unless you  actually take the injectors out and look at the o-rings. Course, of you\'re going to do that, you may as well just replace them.

Sounds like we have pretty much the same problem dturpin. My fuel economy is terrible to! About 10 mpg by my calculations.

Hi

I had a similar problem, it only happened when accelerating hard it turned out to be the intake manifold gaskets, the originals are paper. They were replaced with metal ones, cheap to buy but a bitch to get to.

hope this helps
