Hi.  A friend of mine has a Techtom MDM-100 he uses on his 300ZX.  It looks to give lots of information about what the ECU/sensors are upto and reporting...

I\'ve found there\'s a model for the FD-3S, they call it the Techtom MDM-100Z.  Is anyone using one of these...?  If you ware, what do you think of it?

I\'m sorely tempted to invest in one, but if anyone is using one already I\'d like to hear what you think of it and what sort of info it can give.  I\'ve tried the website for Techtom through Babelfish and it\'s an "interesting" read.  I\'d prefer to hear from someone who has one on a Rex.  The 300ZX version looks very good indeed.

Cheers,
Si.

Could be a great ECU - but considering the infancy of rotary tuning over here do you really want to make it even harder to get your car tuned by opting for a computer that no-one\'s even heard of let alone tuned???

Sorry. I may have misled people.  It isn\'t anything active at all - it\'s purely a passive device.  It plugs into the diagnostic port and displays loads of information about the dynamic state of the inputs to the ECU and the actions the ECU is taking.  It displays the OBD-2 information from the ECU in a two line LCD display.

It\'s purely passive...  I\'m a bit of a technology freak who likes to know what\'s happening in the engine compartment...  (c:

I\'ve found a place that sells them.  They\'re in the US so I\'ll have a delay (and probably a Customs Bill) but I may go ahead with buying one.

Here\'s the URL:

Would a Rex Guru have a look through it and let me know if they think it\'s worth while?  As I said I like to know what\'s happening with the ECU - and this seems to me to be a good way of finding out without filling the car with gauges.  It already has a boost gauge fitted.  I\'d like to know oil temp too, but this isn\'t on the list so I may invest in an oil temp gauge at a later date.

Cheers,
Si.
