Hi guys,

Just a quick question, I\'m looking to purchase my Rex (FD3) in the first half of next year. The information I have learnt from this site is amazing... However, as much as I have learnt I know I will still need someone who knows what they are doing for servicing, repairs, etc.... Hence the question... Does anyone know of any RX7 specialists in the West London area or London generally..? Contact names and telephone numbers would be great..   :cheers

Thanks

Kash

It\'s worth a drive to get to the people who really know about RX7s not to people who think they know. Their arn\'t any deadicated RX specialist in what could be called the london area that i am aware of...... Re worx are portsmouth way hour n half or so drive away.

They are good, but very very expensive.

In agreeance with whats been writen above, Rotechnics and Hayward Rotary are your closest rotary specialists.  Rotechnics do try to be very helpful, but charge you handsomely for the privelage of their rotary experience.  Carl Hayward is a little further along the M4 (2 or 3 junctions) and is certainly worth the trip.  Very knowledgable chaps who will do there absolute best to sort out any problems you may have, and have no problems answering any rotary related questions you have - however daft you may think they sound!  True honest gentlemen who complete high quality work and to very competetive charges (generally, a lot cheaper than Rotechnics!).

Its always worth knowing that when you buy into the wonderful world of the RX-7 (personal experience from FD3S ownership...) that you will have to make long journeys to specialists.  If you do not at first, then you\'ll probably learn the hard way and start making those extended journeys shortly afterward.  Specialists obviously have a very good idea what they are doing, whereas your local \'Mr Fix It\' will have your blood boiling before you know it (again, this is from much personal experience and mostly that of my friends).  Longer trips can be a real burden eating days of work holiday, but if you enjoy driving cars (and let\'s face it, if you\'re looking at purchasing a Rex, then you must) the extra effort is worth every minute - and every penny spent.  And there will be many pennies!  ;)

Good luck!!!    :burnout

There IS a guy in London who rebuilds Rotors but his name escapes me. He was mentioned in another thread about an RX-7 forsale. I\'m sure someone will post his details.

The name JayDee springs to mind?

Thanks for all your replies guys... This is one of the main reasons I really enjoy visiting this forum, everyone is so friendly and eager to help one another... :)
I agree its better to go one step further if you really want to look after your car (I realise this is even more so with the RX7), even if this means having to travel a bit further to see a specialist.

Carl is great for advise on mods and all things going fast and is a good guy to talk to but i have found a Rotary specialist in Slough for the day to day stuff and non performance repaires.
He has been in roatary cars for 20 years and knows all the stuff about rattles and maintaning *sp* them on a daily basis.
Maztek is the company name.

I live in South London and use RE:Worx in Portsmouth cos the\'re great guys and know their stuff - and the drive down there is superb with no speed cameras. Train to back to London £25 if needed.

If you do get stuck however TW White in Orpington have a lot of import experience and will mot and are used to RX7\'s and RX8\'s - but are hardly enthusiasts and do charge dealer prices.

i can do works for you, i work on all of my own RX7\'s and although i don\'t have the facility to do full engine rebuilds (due to space limitations, i do rebuild my own motors but do it out of my garage) i can do you vacuum pipe jobs, brake changes, servicing, exhaust and gauge fitting etc.

Take a look at my website, i started a little how-to site.
