Well as promised I have done a long run 250 miles and the strip with the Scoot ( fiberglass ) Bonnet that Gary was kind enough to rush up to me in my hour of need. Top man. :cool
I had a few minor problems fitting it, but they were down to the hinges being twisted very slightly and not down to the bonnet. ( Now have another set that will be fitted when I get the re-spray done.)
With the Flush Bonnet Pins that Gary sold me early on this year it fits great.
The cutting that I had to do was to fit the Bonnet Pins, the position of these is a personal thing and has to be done on an individual basis to fit each car. I had to drill and fit the washer jets. This is a bit fiddly, measurements are easy as you use the old bonnet for them, but you have to cut three square notches on the edge of each hole to take the sprung fixing lugs on the washer jets. Easy done with a needle file. Perfect fit.
Then again it\'s a personal thing as to where you want the air to flow from the scoop. It is designed to floe through the scoop tunnel and blow down onto the rear of the engine to assist with cooling of the rear most rotary housing. The template holes for this are already marked out and easy to drill out.
The only tricky bit was getting the washer feed pipe to join up with the washer jets but with a bit of patience and a set of long nose pliers the job was done.
To my great pleasure and delight it works. :cool
The design and air flow does cool everything down. But the most important cooling effect is on the Twin Turbos it does keep them cooler and thereby reduces intake temps and assists in making the water injection reduce temps even more. NOW THAT IS WORTH IT.
On my long drive I had intake temps as low as 20c and on full boost 32c, engine temps never went over 79. ( You must also factor into the water temps that I have done away with the normal water pump and got Geff to fit an Electric Water Pump and that certainly works )
So my overall opinion of this Scoot Bonnet from Gary is VERY GOOD and I would recommend it. ( I know there are Carbon Fiber ones out there but I did not want CF as I want it sprayed and CF is even more of a nightmare to spray than Fiberglass.)
I will post pics if people want them.

Cool write up  :cool  I\'m thinking of either going this route or getting the original modified. Am thinking of using the centre feed to direct air to the filter when the single goes on :D

Pics please :D :cheers

Do the Scoot bonnets fit with a standard IC in place ? as i have heard they will only fit if it is removed or re located

And let us have some pics:)

NIX, Have a look at the site above I do believe you are correct about getting rid of the stock intercooler. But thats a good thing anyway. :rollin
Some time ago prior to flipping my original bonnet I was looking at that as well, but having fitted this it\'s not worth the messing about.
Yes you will be able to direct air to your turbo from the tunnel, I will sort out some form of side scoop to capture air from the tunnel to feed my twins or i may just leave that mod for when i go single.
I will do some proper pics Wednesday of all above points as a reference, can\'t do them until then as off down to London in the morning and will not be back until late. :wave

Pics please old chap . :D

As cooling is the biggest thing i find i lack !

Warthog

Will sort them out asap. Just got in from work, so a bit dark and raining at the mo. :yes
What have you done so far ref cooling????
I have an uprated PWR rad, solved all water leaks, removal of water pump and Electric Water Pump fitted by RE:WORX. My temps are now, on full boost 79 ish engine and 32 ish intake ( if you are running a single then your intake temps should be lower as the twins generate so much more heat.) HTH. :wiggle

not done anything really . so i cant complain .
My temps are from 87 (running along the motorway for an hour ) but mostly 85 degrees. I have stock twins .

I want to get either Water Injection .. or a ChargeCooler to cool the air .
I would probably need a better rad like what you have . Anything else to lower the water temps ?

Still not had chance to take any pics as it\'s been raining hard here. Working till 11pm tonight so thats out. Will try friday, if no rain. :cheers

Pics as promised. The reason the cut away for the bonnet pins is a funny shape is that the retaining disc is the same size as the face one and you need to slide it into the cutaway. If not then you end up with a very large cutaway. As you can see I haven\'t finished rubbing down the cut out holes for the air feed to the rear of the engine. I cut out the bonnet arm retaining slit from the old bonnet and fitted it over the formed retaining hole in the Scoot as I wanted the extra security of that system.

It will be a full re-spray.  But I need to sort out the wide body kit, I am looking for a very aggressive style. Any suggestions mate. :wave
