All of the screen vents are a bit lose and sticking up a bit on my motor.. is there an easy way to remedy this or is it a common fault that you just have to put up with??

common fault..1 of mine has done it.Whats even worse is, if you take your dash out (like i did  ) the ducting under those vents has totally come away from the dash, so a lot of air is being lost when your trying to demist the windscreen. I glued mine back to the dash and now it demists twice as quick. It aint worth taking the dash out just to do that though. I took mine out to add central lockng to the alarm unit. It took me all bloody week!! NEVER AGAIN!!

The screen demists ok so I guess it\'s just a case of glueing them down to sort it.

Hi Rob, i have the same problem, mine are all in bits i have tried superglue but it seems like a strange type of plastic and wont stick very well, but i have just got a couple of tubes of rubber windscreen adhesive which i will try, i think that should work if the vents are held in place with tape overnight, its a bit like very tough silicon, i havent fitted them before as i am thinking of recovering the dash and instument top with a matt black cloth of some kind, as i dont like reflections back on to inside of screen, as yet found nothing siutable,if it works your welocome to use it,
Robbie RX-7, where you say to add central locking,  do you mean Keyless entry?to alarm,The reason i ask is my other Mazda! Probe, i was able to do it all inside the drivers door, i still have the diagrams and may do this mod to my 7 as i think the wiring will be similar, mine already has central locking.
cheers Bob,

OK thanks Bob, maybe a 2 part (Araldite) type of glue might work too. Let me know how you get on :)

Rob.

well first of all i needed to add a solenoid in the drivers door, then run the wires through to the car, at the same time i added clifford smart windows4 to close/open the windows with the remote. The alarm unit was right up behind the dash and there was no way i was gonna be able to wire it up with the dash in place, so that involved removing the dash. On your alarm you have 2 wires. 1 lock pulse wire and 1 unlock pulse wire, i wired these wires to 2 relays that controled the solenoid in the drivers door. So when i press the alarm button, the solenoid pushes the drivers door lock which in turn locks the pass door. Ideally you would wire the lock/unlock wires to the central locking control module, but you still have the problem with adding a solenoid to the drivers door. You can still lock the drivers door inside easy enough, but now i cant lock it with the key, as the solenoid has made the mechanism stiffer.

Jono,
That Tiger seal sounds good!Think that would be good to fit my spats on with,The stuff i will use on the vents sets just like very tough rubber, guess that might do spats as well with a screw front and back just to make sure,
Cheers Bob

Bob,

Oh yea, it\'s good stuff all right!!!
One word of warning though, be carefull with it: Ware old clothes and have plenty of rags to hand \'cos that stuff gets everywhere. one blob the size of a pea travels so far you would not believe, it will be up both your arms, on your face in your hair and still have enough to paint the house, all with the same pea sized spot!!!!!

Be warned,
Jono

Lol. Thanks for the warning Jono, have overalls goggles and mask!
