From lots of personal experience with AON and from reading other people\'s problems on the MX-5 forums (AON have done a membership deal for the MX5oc for a good few years), it is my belief that they pluck the figures out of the air.

Call them two days in a row and if they don\'t realise you\'ve done this you\'ll get two completely different quotes.

For my seriously modified (boosted from 116 BHP - 208) they\'re still best, but when I then asked over the rex they quoted me twice as much as A-Plan and refused to budge even an inch.

Oh and when I said the MX-5 was now going to be parked on the road when I was getting the quote I was told my premium would increase by 10%, but when I came to do the change it was free - go figure (though this time I\'m not complaining).

Problem for me is I was moving from one Club policy (MR2DC) to another (through this Club for the Rex).  It looks like I have a buyer for my \'2 which will be going soon, so now it\'s much simpler as I\'m back to insuring one car.

Aon won\'t touch the Rex ATM because it\'s not parked on the drive and not parked in a garage.  Anyway, been there, done that.

I\'ve bought some time in which to find somewhere better to park the car - either a rented garage or secure off-road parking somewhere local.  To be honest I\'m not going to be parking the car on the street outside home anyway, I\'ll keep it at work (doesn\'t get much more secure than that) until I can park it somewhere closer to home.

I have the same experience though of the same insurers giving different decisions.  I\'ve also noticed what one insurer considers important another considers trivial.

There are examples on here with Tracker units and the like - one day it\'s important, the next it isn\'t.  For me it\'s parking on the street.  Aon won\'t insure the car if it\'s parked on the street - my current insurer said that if it\'s parked in a garage it will cut the premium by only 2% compared to parking on the street.

The down side is non-standard alloys +10%, non-standard exhaust, +10%, I daren\'t ask about the MazdaSpeed gearlever knob - just in case it adds another 10% (although I have delcared it :) )

I do wonder sometimes just how insurance would be if it were nationalised...   There\'s a Govt requirement to have insurance (they passed the laws) but there\'s no Govt "standard" insurance available....  Hmmm... perhaps on second thought that\'s not a good idea ...:spank

LOL - fantastic!  I like your style.  I\'ve been hatching insurance plans and I\'ve had a bit of a result, so I\'m a happy bunny.  I\'ll be happier when the post strike is over - assorted bits of important documentation for mine are stuck in the post )c:  Ho hum.

Collecting yours in 2 hours..!!!   All being well I should be able to pick mine up in December, that\'s a month or so away - and I can\'t wait, so with only 2 hours to go I\'d be banging on the door to be let in to collect it!

Best wishes,
Si.
