Does anyone know how many T2 Convertibles were sold in the UK?

I had a chat with the Parts guy at my local Mazda Dealer, he was telling me that the officaly imported Uk Verts are very rare? he said he had not seen another one in ten years working there? Which surprised me and made me curious?

I know my car originally came from Victoria Park Motor Co. in Cardiff that is the same place as the two UK FD\'s that live near me.

I guess i\'m looking for a reason to justify the amount of work i\'m doing on it, but out of intrest how many people own one?

Hi Chris & Stu :wave

There were only 360 UK Cabriolets, so they are very, very rare! :D

I find this quite weird really as Mazda always intended that the 2nd gen would have a convertable version and it was built into the design ethos right from the start.  Don\'t you find it strange that Mazda didn\'t try to sell more in the UK???  I\'ve often wondered why?  (They were very expensive though, about £27,000.00 I think)

Does anyone know how many Japanese ones were manufactured by any chance? Or US ones?

Mine\'s a home market one, as I gave up looking for a decent UK one, but I have to say all of the mechanics and sales staff always run out to look at mine at my local Mazda, (when they realise what it is) so you are not alone! :D :rollin :rollin

And I absolutely can\'t wait to see what Stu\'s local Mazda thinks of his! :D :D

Brett

How come your local Mazda place comes out to see?  My lot dive behind the staff only door and pretend to be shut when I turn up :reallymad:  Godfreys of Southwater, avoid \'em at all costs.
I have to drive all the way to Milford if I need any parts from Mazda.

Yep that sounds a first rate dealers. At least i can pretend to order parts. It just takes an age to recive them.

Brett

Milford is usually worth the drive though, they quite often have some very tidy Rx7\'s hiding out the back :)

What a strange effect you have on peeps, Brett! ;) :rollin

They\'ve definately given up on selling me a new car now???!!!! :rollin :evillaugh

Seriously though, some of the guys are proper Mazda peeps, old skool, worked for Mazda for 25+ years, so they have respect!  :D :D  So like you say Brett, it\'s definately where you go! :D

As far as the cabrio is concerned, I can say that the last time they saw an RX7 cabriolet it was the managers\' and many years ago!
