mate was round to see the car tonite and asked me if its even possible to lower the rear suspension, is it possible?

Ray

Yes,

Either get de-cambered springs or just use lowering blocks. Ford Escort lowering blocks and U bolts fit.

ska

which escort are the lowering blocks from? a specific mark/model or wotever????

MikeLMR

Mk2 or MK1 escorts

Lowering blocks will increase axle tramp though. But then again finding some decambered springs won\'t be very easy !

Ray

RX-4 series 2 onwards are supposed to have anti-tramp bars fitted as standard, but no UK one\'s I\'ve seen so far have them. Has yours? (They are bars that run from the axle to the chassis leg)

There should be somewhere that can retemper your leaf springs in the UK. On my old RX-3 I had this done (2 inch straightening) + 2 inch lowering blocks and it was VERY LOW!! I think 3 inches lower is a nice look and you should be able to run 17s easily if the guards are lipped and the front corner of the guard/wing redone.
