HKS evc 3 settings help

hi all  just had a lovly morning    fitting  my boost controler back  on after having it disconected.
does any 1 know the settings for the hks evc 3   as all it does is over boost  
Gain  ratio settings and also max boost psi/bar as its set to boost  to 8 bar at the mo  
oh  and what would be the best clutch to fit  as now it seemed to slip abit  lol  1 thing after another  :cool  :evillaugh

Hey Craig,

I\'ve got the original HKS EVC which works a treat at controlling a boost spike I had after de-catting.
It hasn\'t got gain ratio, but are you saying you set it for 0.8 bar and it over boosts?
Have you tried it turned off?  Should get 0.5 bar.  If not perhaps you haven\'t disconnected the vac pipe from wastegate actuator to wastegate solenoid valve?

i set it  for 0.8   did not know what the right max boost is for a rex   when i turn it off  it works like it used to  and everything is ok at 0.5.Its the other settings ect on it   that im unsure  of, what they should be set to.  It had been in the car befor  but not when i had it   they had put red and white dots on the pipes to conect it back up   so that was no prob.Its just the settings on the unit its self im unsure of  as it seems to back the car off    and some god awful  beeping sound comes on and will not go off  :?

Stock boost is 0.7 bar.   What mods have you got, dont wanna run too lean with too much boost.

Sounds like an overboost warning beep?  Mine doesn\'t have that.

it only boosts to 0.5  always has  well since i got it. cant say i have to many mods    uprated rad and intercooler   and a feed induction kit    kps racing zorst. i think it might be  running  lean  as it   flames   in most gears .lol  but im  told  they all do that.
 ill  go over the manual    and see if i can see anything  thank you  for ya help  m8

It was prob only boosting to 0.5bar because the wastegate solenoid valve was disconnected when they originally fitted evc.
Sounds like you have a de-cat mid pipe same as me, that\'s a big mod in itself.
Much gd fun tho, mine shoots 10 ft flames lol!

0.7 bar is still safe AFR with stock ECU (some say it isn\'t), but anything more is risking det.  I run at just over 0.8 (12psi) and haven\'t had any probs yet.  Thinking about an Apexi FC tho to be safe.

Post a pic of it up as I don\'t remember off the top of my head what they evc 3 looks like. Some of the models are quite the opposite for setting up.
If you get a pic I can instruct you how. Probably only getting that boost due to not setting the gain.

ill  get a pic sorted but the problem with the car now is that it chugs and trys to gut out   is not ticking over right at all ill try and sort out a sound file of it.its like  say  you   turn a corner in to hi gear  and there is not enough  fule  getting through    so the car chugs well its like that  but  im in the right gear:?

I can\'t see clearely but I think I recognise it. to have approx .8 bar of boot set your boost to .8 bar and set the gain to approx 85 and it should be fine if all wired up ok.

I dont like the sound of the chugging Craig, how high you been boosting? Are you on stock ECU?  Hope you haven\'t chucked a tip mate.  Mine chugged like that when I did, and would struggle like feck to tickover with air con turned on. Is it high mileage?

well  she has dun 63000km   but was rebuilt   by pip   about 5-6 months  ago it was all run in well  and the car has been running fine as stock on stock ecu  boosting to 0.5  now with the evc on  i set it to  boost to 0.8   and all goes to pot.if it has chucked a tip   how much was it to fix? is there any chance i could of just dun somthing to the  settings on the ecu  and just resetting that would fix it.

You should be ok boosting at 0.8  ,  did you get any big spikes over 1bar when you were testing it yesterday?  Do u use ordinary unleaded in it?
What rpm is it tickin over at now?

she only went to 0.8  nothing over    i run her on   Optimax  only stuff she seems to work with   runs realy odd with bp  she tickes over at just under 1000 rpm  around 800   mark  but she always sat it that when warm   and  sat at 1500  for a few mins  when cold.im  going to put the old piping back on and take the evc   out  just hope it goes back to norm  will try  resetting the ecu as well   ya never know just praying its not a tip  as i will have to get rid if it is,what was the cost  btw   when yours went ?
