Well with the rex off the road I decided that the old girl needed some love inside, the dash had that crappy rubber stuff on it and looked generally awful so I decided a bit of paint was needed :)

Before:

During: (Didn\'t take anypics whilst I was spraying the dash sorry)

After: (Sorry for the crappy quality, it was darkish and the flash has made it look alot shinier than it is :) )

All in all it now looks brand new, it took ruddy ages to sand/wet and dry all the rubber stuff off, also had a big ass bug decide that the black paint looked fun too :spank

Definately a happy bunny though  :)

Let me know when you do is ASP, haha! Mine is okish but I\'d love to have it looking as good as this one. I thought I saw you twice today in Cardiff in the CRX. I was driving like  :3gears-lh to catch up but it wasn\'t you.

Cheers guys :)

asp. I\'m in the middle of the the middle part, thats being a pain as the rubber is super thick and has taken about 3 hours to run off :)

I\'ll be taking the door cards off and fitting better speakers so it makes sense to do the handles at the same time as well as doing the outside door handles.  If you need a step by step I can write one but its pretty much common sense.

I\'ve also left the ciggy lighter out as I intend fitting an s2000 start button   :3gears-lh

Like that a lot Mate,

What colour did you do it ?

Alsomaybe I am being thick but what are the bits you painted silver and where are they on the pics of the finished dash ?

This seems to be the job everyone has to do at some point.

Might do mine in the winter.

Cheers,

Gareth

Hi Gareth :)

Its basically a few coats of mat black and 2 coats of laquer.  I didn\'t want to put anymore laquer on as it would go too shiney.

The silver bits are the gauge surrounds, mine were black to start - after a few attempts I finally found a chrome paint that looked chrome :)

Saved me a few £s on the kit I was considering.

I have repainted mine too last week, i used screfix graffiti remover to clean the rubber off mine done in 5 minutes, wipe with rag then rinse with water.
Lead me not into temptation, I can find it myself...
But i can always do with some help now due to, my advancing years!

Is taking the dash apart easy to do?

Haven\'t had a go yet but would appreciate a few pointers (an idiots guide would be a bonus too  :D )

The hardest part i found, was taking the dash off complete with cowl, mine broke off into 6 pieces, but with abs glue, and fibreglass reinforment, and filler, its now good as new and much stronger, i now have modified the way the cowl and dash fit, instead of coming out in one lump, all i did was remove two top fixing lugs, so now they are in two parts, i used two small plastic rivits in the top of the cowl to secure to dash, you can see where to put these when it apart, these are very small and strong and can be easily removed for splitting again for any future problems without breaking the cowl.
Next hardest part for me was unplugging the sockets from the instruments, they were firmly stuck and im used to this sought of thing, it did not help at all by all the wires being very short i could not get any grip, so another mod, i left all the sockets in place and cut all the wires off leaving enough wire for reconnection much easier for me, i then made up patch leads 30cm long horror some might say. You do not have to do what i have done with the wires, yours may unplug easily, but it suited me for my purposes.
but i now have a dash that is very easy to stip down, repaint again, and do whatever i need to do.
