Hi all.

I have been searching around for a while now to try and find a final answer to those horrible emissions test we have to\'pass\'

every year.  I have found out from tralling through various pages that imports have a more relaxed emissions rule??  I want

to upgrade my exhaust and want it to pass emissions in the state that it is for the whole year round (ie : not keep putting a

cat on for the test) but I keep finding conflicting info...

Quote"for the cars registered after 1/8/86 up to 31/8/1992 they have to produce -- feel < = 3.5% and hydrocarbons must be

<= 1200 ppm. The cars after 1992 have to produce equal or less than <= 0.2% and hydrocarbons <=200ppm!!" from : http://www.

mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16282&highlight=emissions

But I thought that pre cat tests where done for cars 1st registered mid 1995 (July or August?? - 3.5%co and 1200ppm)

Quotei think i read somewhere that imported cars that where manufactured before august 1995 dont need a cat to pass UK

emissions tests" from : http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13006&highlight=emissions

Also on that same thread is a link to an mot site with a flow diagram for determining what test needs to be done - If I follow that I can still get 2 results - If the MOT station cant find "an exact match in the vehicle analyser database" then I get a pre cat test but if he can find it then I have to have a cat test done??

My car was registered early 1995.  Is it therefore possable for me to decat or remove both cats and replace main with

sports/hi-flow cat? (I have been told that removing the pre cat is fine).

Even if the answers arn\'t usefull to me I hope they will be for others.  I will ring the DVLA (or whoever I need to) soon but

I wanted to start the ball rolling to find out peoples expeariences in the real world!

Thanks all!
