After owning 2 TII\'s, 2 1st Gens, and finally an FD, all of which were modified. I decided to go for a TII again. I finally decided that its not practical for me to have an RX7 as my daily driver as like to modify them.

I loved my FD but it was a very extreme although it was quick and is still near the top of the 1/4 mile charts. It was too much monies worth of car to rag about and i would love to try drifting and track days but i didnt want to ruin my FD so i went for a cheaper car which i could justify leaving in the garage for as long as i want.

I bought this TII for 600 pounds (ebay) with a working but tired engine. My intention was to turn it into a fun car which was just for playing in. It is one of the tightest i have driven, it has a new steering rack which really helps and the suspension is fairly new so feels good on the road. Most importantly there is no rot in the usual places, the only places i found a small hole was behind the front wheels where there is a piece of plastic to stop crap getting cought in the front wishbone. I stripped the whole rear end off the car, stripped it, painted it and completely undersealed the whole car underneath so it should last a few years.

I wanted to build it on a budget so i did almost everything i could myself. Details as follows, the car was completely stock when i bought it except for the exhaust which i didnt use.

1. Stock TII block rebuilt and street ported by me.
2. Paddle clutch from Ebay USA (100 quid)
3. Huge intercooler from Ebay (30"x12"x4") fitted flat where the undertray used to go. (150 quid)
4. Stock rad and fan which keeps the water temps at a nice constant 86 degrees.
5. Electric power steering fitted under the N/S wing (Citroen Saxo 70 quid)
6. Stock 550 cc primary injectors cleaned and flowed.
7. Bosch 1680 cc secondaries fitted in the stock TII fuel rail which keeps the fuel system simple but effective (80 quid a pair new Ebay USA).
8. Bosch 040 pump fitted in the tank with an adjustble FPR (100 quid).
9. The Turbo is a Mitsubishi TD08 from Ebay USA, recon.
10. The manifold is a S/S one from SS Autochrome Ebay USA, its much better and thicker than the FD version and fitted really well.
11. The waste gate is an SSAutochrome Ebay USA one.
12. Exhaust was home made by me with S/S back boxes from Ebay (29 quid)and a simmons middle box. 3" until the split into 2 x 2/12" cos i like the twin exit.
13. I decided to fit an FD UIM as it was failry easy and meant i could fit a greddy elbow, plus i had one already.
14. Home made 3" inlet pipe work.
15. LSD from an Import efini (Gman)
15.a Line lock just for fun!!!
16. drilled and grooved discs and uprated pads from Shy Autos.
17. I wanted to use a microtec but unfortunately there were supply problems in Australia and it meant that i ran out of money and time, I was given a repreive by my cousin who lent me his Apexi PFC and Geff at Reworx who converted my existing loom to fit the Power FC. The ecu is great as usual.... easily mapped and very forgiving. Running on the a stock TII engine, coils and crank pick up, although the TPS is an FD one, and all my stock guages work  .

I ran the car in and took it to reworx last week for a check up. They also did some initial mapping. unfortunately i havent got a boost controller yet and my wastegate wasnt playing fair, the boost was inconsistant making it difficult to map. Although since then the wastegate seems to be behaving and running base boost more consistantly. The car had 330 bhp at 0.85 bar at the rear wheels. I was hoping for a little more but i still have more to do. The turbo is big so its not really running efficiently until i get some more boost down its neck. The LSD is great and makes coping with the power much easier. The car is as Max said it would be............. nippy, but very usable. Now i need to save some more money and get some water injection, a boost controller and possibly the odd spoiler and a set of wheels!!
I would like to thank all those that had an input into the car and gave me advice and help when i needed it.......... you know who you are.
