Hello people..im currently looking round all the importers as ive always wanted a rx7..my plan is to buy a standard example and then do the mods i want to the engine..as ive previously owned skylines and cosworth\'s i know that the standard power wont keep me happy for long so im hoping to go for between 450-500bhp.

My question relates to what sort of money this type of rebuild will cost me and who is generally considered to be the best for big hp rebuilds as i notice quite a few companys at the top of this page..i have done extensive reading on the car with the help of this board and i deffo have my heart set on one as imo no car looks as good as a rx7.

I just want a very quick road car as im not really in to track or drag events but im the type of person who always wants the extreme :D

Your comments would be appreciated :3gears-rh

To find 500 fwhp is not to hard these days, seems to be the norm if you convert to a single Turbo [largish], rebuilt engine [with extended porting], uprated intercooler, better fueling [uprated pump, FPR, 1200 / 1680 secondary injectors] uprated ecu and GOOD MAPPING, expect to invest 10k to get the RIGHT job done, \'course it will be cheaper if you can do some DIY.

Having got that sort of power you need to be looking at the drive train, brakes and handling, yet another bucket full of cash, if you dont upgrade the rest you will be wasting your time, so expect another 5k for a good job.

As to tuners, dont know where you are so do your research, the likelyhood is if you use any of the tuners advertised on this forum you will get a good job [they would be wasting there time advertising on here if they were c##p]

Hope this helps.

thanks for that...i have seen already done cars advertised but i suppose its a gamble as the history on these cars can be sketchy if they are a fresh import...10k doesnt sound to bad for that kind of power..

What sort of large singles would do that kind of power as most of the cars ive seen have t78\'s and they have always been quoted about 450 ish?

GT35, TO4R, T51KIA, they would all make 500 required!

You could always buy clives turbo. That has 600 hp potential

Clives turbo has more than 600hp potential.

We did get 400hp at the hubs at only 6000 rpm on 13psi boost,so that really shows the potential of this turbo.
We only mapped it to 6000 rpm as we ran out of time on the day,but it would have probably reached a fair bit more at that same psi at higher rpm.

Had a quick scour of the web, but didn\'t turn anything solid up.
I did however find an interesting RX-7 dyno results site, allows direct comparison of dynos (on the same chart): - http://dyno.zeroglabs.com/dyno.php
