Check the downpipe nuts on the underside while your under there, dont know if this is a common problem but I had mine come loose a while back, might have just been shoddy work by garage who fitted it

Quote from: iaintMost important thing is you absolutely need to get axle stands to do this.  Don\'t use the emergency jack and don;t trust a hydraulic jack either.

It\'s a really simple job to change and you can do a full oil change at the same time and save yourself a trip to a mechanic :)

I guess you are right, the car has to go up...I don’t have an axle stand so this will have to be done on my next trip to REWORKS. Better save then sorry

Thanks 4 the tip...

Quote from: ScuttleRXJust before I order....

I take it its just the normal F106 that fits the FD, or do I need the one with nipples and/or adapters?

Yup, the normal one is fine, no adapter needed. The ones with nipples are meant for stationary engines, marine engines and the like where it is impractical to put a plastic tub under the drain hole. You push a rubber hose onto the nipple and drain the oil to somewhere more accessible.

ScuttleRX

lovely, cheers for that, quite lucky really cos I literally just placed the order :)

ScuttleRX

...and I was wondering what the nipple was for :)

Know what you mean. Did an oil chage in the drive. Cost about 20 quid for the oil and the filter. Plus the motorfactors had the filter listed in the book  :eek. Will i get more oil out if i lift the car on blocks and keep it level ?

Probably not a significant amount.  most of the oil that doesn;t get changes is in the oil cooler piping and cooler(s) from what I\'ve read.

Are people still going ahead with group buy or using the 10% discount we have been offered?

If group buy is going ahead I need knocking off the list cos ive already ordered one with discount, think a few others may have too.

Very easy to do BTW, there is a discount code section in online order form, enter [removed] and it will knock 10% off straight away

Top_gear_towers

Surely with the sheer number of us (almost 30) we could get more than 10% as a one off group buy?

ScuttleRX

just put off by the hassle, and the fact no-one really fancies organising it, and that your only saving a few extra pence

ScuttleRX

Thanks to Grinder though for enquiring and getting us the 10% :cheers

I think the current plan is that Danny (fish) will organise a mini-buy for people who can collect the plugs at the pub meet and save $4 postage each.  We\'re basically that tight. :D

I could be wrong though.
