Right then people it\'s time i got my dodgy tickover sorted, i have been told that it is most likely inlet manifold gasket, so i want to get it looked at, sorted and whilst it\'s being done serviced and generally given the once over.

Question is where would be the best place to take it??

For those that don\'t know i live about 5 miles from santapod and according the AA route planner Reworx, WGT and Jimmy\'s are all similar distances from me (131miles) (134miles) (115miles) respectively. Sooo is there anyone else, Rx specialist or otherwise, that you would recommend to do the above job that isn\'t listed (Hayward? don\'t know where they are though)

Would like to get something sorted so i can try and get it booked in (where ever) the last week of July as i am off work then.

Cheers
Mark

Mark, you are opening a can of worms on this request. ;)

Everyone has their favs. and its just something that you will be best to make your own mind up on.

Hayward rotary\'s postcode is RG20 8RU if you wanna stick it in your route planner, bout 100 miles from santa pod.

Have had services done at Jimmys and can vouch for them, have had work done at WGT and can vouch for them too, and ive had some great advise off Carl (hayward) and also been slightly deafened by his pp 4 rotor, and had great fun watching the 9 second reworx car! so whoever you pick you cant lose matey ;)

If it is inlet manifold gasket should be an easy job (if its the bit im thinking of, think theres an upper and lower!), hope you get it all sorted

Yeah kinda see what you\'re saying Fish and lets just say i pretty much have but i was wondering if there\'s someone i\'ve missed out whos worth considering, it\'s not a rebuild im after after all, who\'s a bit closer not that i mind travelling for a quality job, and if it comes to it i\'ll get it delivered on a low loader if it will work out cheaper. Anyone got any ideas on that whilst i\'m here??

Mark C

Thanks for the info Scuttle  :) , Hayward work out at about 85 miles from me.

I am led to believe it\'s the lower, a common problem on the older ones apparently  :xconfused .

ScuttleRX

low loader idea may work out a bit pricey, I did start to look into it but the 1st couple of quotes scared me off! I was looking for a longer trip though, bout 250 miles...prob best just to drive there though if you can I reckon, any excuse for a day out driving :)

ScuttleRX

Yeah think the older ones were made of paper, ive got a \'96 and if its the one im thinking of (behind the throttle body) then ive got the metal one

If it\'s the bottom gasket on the LIM, make sure your sitting down when the bill arrives :eek The turbo pack has to come out to change the gasket.

Mark C

Thanks for the warning, not exactly a straight forward job then.

Nope the downpipes and turbo have to come off in order to remove the LIM. The new mazda LIM\'s are a 3 layer metal design and cost about £25, it\'s just the labour which is a killer.

Good luck sorting it,

Paul:)

are you a member of the AA or RAC.. if so... drive 5 miles  or even 1/2 a mile formyour home and get them tow you to the garage... wont cost you anything as long as you have the right cover!!!  if not join... MRC
get discount on the AA

my mate bought a car of his mum in law...  and S13 with a knackered turbo... down in farnborough and just left it on the drive adn phoned the rac and got it towed home all the way to cheltenham....

always worth a go innit!!!

Kieron

I use to do that with my MR2, forever breaking down on the drive, use to get it about 10mins down the road, call the RAC and get them to tow it to the nearest garage  :chat

RX-HEAVEn might be worth a call 01403 734666 I have only ever delt with them, never had any complaints. club supporters too.

Mark C

Thanks for that, this their address?

137-139 CRAWLEY ROAD
HORSHAM
WEST SUSSEX
RH12 4DX

I am a member of the AA but think getting it towed 100 miles give or take might be pushing it.

Kieron

No there address is in Southwater. not too far from Horsham.

Mark C

Southwater, hmm ok will have to give them a call to find out exactly where they are. Thats the address i came up with after a search of the net.

So the down pipes have got to come off too  ....was going to be changing them (and decatting) some time in the not to distant future. I guess now would be a good time if they are coming off anyway.....that means a power fc will be required too, and mapping....decisions decisions..
