I am in the process of fitting some extra gauges, i have the boost/oil/AFR sorted but i am just wondering where to put the sender for the water temp.
I was looking about and saw that near the filler/stat there are two pre drilled holes with blanks in, one is just behind the filler neck on top and the other is on the side near the air pump.
Is there any reason NOT to use one of these holes ? as i dont have a 1/8 npt tap handy and would prefer not to drill holes in things if i dont have to.
I have an adapter to reduce them down to 1/8, just need to know if it will be ok to use them.

Yes Nik,no problem, thats where i put the sender for mine. That is where the coolant system is at its hottest, coolant leaving the engine at that point so will give good indication of coolant temps.

Thanks Gary, which hole is the best to use ? the one at the top or the one near the air pump ?
By the look of it, the one on top would be easist, as the the one on the air pump side would be awkward and would need air pump moving out the way first to be able to screw the adapter in.
Is one hole engine side and the other rad side ?

They are both after the thermostat, either one will be fine.I used the one in the side but have no air pump so easy access for me.

thats handy then, i may try the one on the side even though its awkward, as it would be a better place to have it i think.
Next job, get rid of the air pump :)

hi Nixrx7 and k1hks
I am also fitting a sender unit here and was wondering if you knew the size of the adapter I would need to fit predrilled hole, and any pointer who may sell them would be great.

Glad I found this thread saved me drilling into things:)

Thanks in advance.

Well i looked around for age for gauges i liked, and settled on Autogauge, which are like a cheap Defi copy, fine for what i wanted.
Cheapest i could find in the UK was about £35-£45 per gauge, so i though sod that, and ordered them from a company in Australia, took 5 days to be delivered and for the 5 gauges i needed i think it cost me just over £100, they all come with sender units and adapters so you can fit them dead easy.

here is the link, case anyone else needs it.

I think i may have a spare adapter left over that will fit in the hole in the stat housing, it is drilled through the center to accept a 1/8 npt sender (which i think is standard).

Pm me your address Lee and i will send it to you.
