Are there any guides about to re-locating the battery on a FD to the boot? Step-by-step kinda thing?

Also ive heard that you need a sealed battery when its in the cabin, is this a case of buying a special battery or can you just buy a case to put normal battery in.

You don\'t really need a sealed battery provided it\'s in a proper battery box (if you\'re going to put it in the boot).
It\'s very important to make sure the battery tray is securely bolted down to the boot, it would be disasterous if it came loose in an accident.

Cheers fro, had a feeling it might be on that website, just changed web-providers and lost all my bookmarks, couldnt remember how to spell it :)

Its really not as much a deal as its made out. get a propper box and get it seated well. Just remember to give the supply cable overcurrent protection and have it corretly rated mV/Am . Try and run it down the center of the car as well.

If you want a simple battery go for the pure lead type batteries from

They do a aluminium bracket for this battery too. Can screw into the plastic panel at the back of the boot.

Not too cheap, but very good quality.

Very much fit and forget. Can\'t get spilt either.

why would you want to move the battery to the boot?  is it simply just to make more space in the engine bay area?

ScuttleRX

yes thats one of the reasons, helps the air-flow in the engine bay a bit. Think a lot of people do it also when they want to fit a bigger intercooler as it can get in the way.

Another reason is im fitting a water injection kit soon and majority of that will be in boot, its good to have the pump as close to batt as poss to avoid a voltage drop in the cable, or so I have been told. Mainly doing it to free up some space in engine bay and hopefully duct some more cool air into there.

Can also help the weight distribution, IIRC I think the cars are slighty heavier on the front passenger side so fitting in the rear drivers side evens it out a bit.

useful explanation! thanku scuttlle.

i\'ll be picking up my first FD3S on the 2nd July.  I\'ve been quietly following the forum for a while now - trying to gain as much info as possible.  When i actually collect my rex, i\'d like to change my username to mark the occasion and i\'ll activate my membership too.  I think Scoobi Si mentioned that it\'s somehow possible to change the username without re-registering as a new user.  i\'ll pm him later about that.  I\'d also like to write a report of my personal experience importing a car (via Newera) for the benefit of future Rex owners.  Soz to have gone off topic for a bit there - i\'ll shurrup now.

yeah this forum is great, very helpful when    both before and after I got my rex  :)

Not long to wait now then(although the last week will drag on forever!), I got my car through newera too, big thumbs up to them couldnt have been more helpful.

Happy rotor-ing!
