Ok, I have just made a bit of an installation road test, after fitting my replacement uk spec speedo (Worked a treat!).

However, I had 2 quirks while doing this, and am a bit concenred about it, and would therefore appreciate peoples input.

First quirk: This will happen mainly in the higher gears. Mostly 4th and 5th, but sometimes 3rd if i recal correctly. when i\'m at about 3 thousand revs and cruising, and then i stick my foot down, the rev counter revs will rise by about 1000 revs, which normally i\'d put down to a dodgy rev counter - but i can hear the sound of the revs of the engine change too in time with that. The rate of speed rise of the car does not match this - in other words, it\'s as if the clutch is being slipped - wierd. Has anyone encountered this before in their FD\'s?

Second quirk: Ok, so i shouldn\'t have been going this fast, but when I was flooring it in fifth i hit the rev limiter without the gear change alarm sounding. I changed up to fifth ok, and kept accelerating, but at points the smooth acceleration would stop - and i would notice that the boost would read zero, and then it would come back to full boost again. This could happen a couple of times under hardish throttle. Only seems to happen in fifth. Anyone encountered this? I\'m guessing (really guessing!!) that the ecu is seeing too lean a mixture and releasing the boost to save the engine? Yes? No? Maybe!?

Cheers for any help or advice.

Your revs rising is likely that your cluttch is slipping, this starts to happen at first at low rpm in high gears but will eventually get worse and be more noticeable in lower gears too.
The 5th gear boost symptoms are probaly the turbo\'s trying to change over, maybe you are in that part of the rev range?

Thanks carl, much appreciated on the reply. I thought as much on the clutch front - only answer really I suppose!

I don\'t think it\'s the change over from single to twin, as it seems to sit there at 0 bar boost for a couple of seconds, then suddenly comes back again - feels completely different to when it does it in fourth. I can\'t recall at what revs it was - i\'ll keep an eye on it next time it does it.

Agree, sounds like a clutch, but might also be a collapsed pipe.
