Start up and idle

Hi fellas,

This last couple of weeks when starting my RX up, it seems to rev quite high for a good while, like in a manual choke car with the choke out fully. Also, when warmed up, the idle seems to \'pulse\'. Its hard to explain, sorry.
A short while back, I went to Ross @Dragon for a full service, while it was there he removed all the plastic bit at the front of the engine bay (air ducting?) and as a temp measure, he covered the big hole left with duct tape. This wasnt holding very well, so I went over it with some insulating tape, but havent checked it since. Could this be anything to do with it? I should be heading back there soon for a decat and pfc fiting/mapping, should I wait and see whats said then? It doesnt affect the driving at all, and GOD I hope its nothing too bad!!!!!!!!!!!

As a totaly different prob, my speedo and rev meter keep on conking out. Seems fine to start with, then after driving for a while, when I give it abit of beans, they just die off. Anythoughts on this too please?

what mods, ECU etc do you currently have?

So far the ECU is standard, HKS induction (just a thought, I replaced these just over a week ago, if by some chance I left gaps, could this cause any probs?), blitz bov and a system or back box, I dont know what type, but still have the cat (will be decatted when the pfc is fitted and mapped).

mine revs at around 2k until its warm. As it warms it slowly drops to proper revs.

Mine Revs to 1500 RPM on warm up for a minute or so.  Then the revs can vary from sitting dead on 1000 to dropping to 500 or lower!  And mines just had a rebuild by Carl Hayward so Im pretty sure it\'s nothing to do with the engine seals etc.

I did notice last night that when I got home the idle was at around 2k (only a short drive back from work), but it dropped quite abit, to about 1-1.5k when I turned the lights off. Just got me thinking that the battery might be on the way out, or poss the alternator?!?!
