I picked up my 1992 RX7 Import Today :). Ive bought a new fuel Filter, Oil Filter, Replacement Filter, New Plugs, Oil change and getting the timming done. I hope this will improve the overall running off the car, even though it does run very nice now.   I do have a couple of questions though!!

Will the ecu be ok for UK petrol as im worried that it may damage the engine. If so are there any alternatives to a full new ecu i.e. Apexi Power FC, can i just get an ecu upgrade.

Any Tips for a newbie who wants to learn... Chears Mark:D

Congrats on picking up your new motor mate!

Motor should be ok on UK fuel; just make sure you use as high an octane fuel as you can get i.e. either Shell Optimaz or a good brand Super...you can add octane booster if you\'re that worried but I dont know many who do this regularly - probably \'cause they cost enough to run as it is!

If you\'re gonna go aftermarket you may as well go for a \'complete\' replacement engine management system e.g. Power FC, Microtech, MoTeC etc rather than a piggy back fuel controller; it gives you more versatility should you want to push things further down the road.

Very good point, fuel. As you know the Jap imports run of higher octane fuel in Japan, which mean low octane hear in the UK.

So yes get it tuned, the PFC is a very good plug and play ECU, but again tune the map in the PFC after fitting. And if you use Optimax when tuning the ecu, then always use the stuff :)

So your quite right, better to be safe than sorry, get it tuned to our lower octane fuel.
