I was wondering whether it would be wise to take off the plenum ( is it called that on a rex?) for polishing ( my mate can do it as he runs a metals company and has all the kit).

What dangers are there in doing it?  I assume these are just held on with the bolts around the place, is there a gasket I need to be careful about and do the nuts need to tourqued to a certain tightness...

if all goes well should have results in the next few weeks...

will post pics when done, before and after, and he even said that for a cost he would consider doing it commercially....

secondly,  they also manufacture high qulity stainless steel dust caps for the motor trade,  we were talking and said that I would let people know on here and see if any one would be interested in having some... he has the ability to adorn the end of the dust cap with a symbol.... like the effini/rotary symbol. dont know cost of these yet but will see if there is much interest...

I will be at jap fest this weekend and will ask him to bring some with ... he is on the 300zx stand... blue one with a big spoiler on the back... which is for sale.

anyway... enough jibber jabber

Def remove it, I had loads of fillings when I did mine on the bench.
It is also alot harder than you would imagine and requires a
hell of a lot of patience to get a \'good\' finish.

so there is no real danger in remving it then... I will ofcourse cover the hole up with plastic bags to stop any crud getting in...

what about the tourque settings or gaskets or stuff....

shouldnt take too long, he has an industrial polisher so hopefilly a couple of hours should do it.....

I did this and forgot to connect the boost sensor (the electrical connection directly underneath) when I put it back on and couldn\'t figure out why my heat light kept flickering on. I also sheared off one of the studs on the oil catch tank side while tightening so if you can torque them all, do it as I didn\'t use much force at all before this happened.
