I keep hearing alot about the standard guages not being that much use and not reliable.

my temp guage is allways in the middle when the car is up to temp...

my pressure guage sits between two and four on idle when up to temp and increases when at higher revs.

I am sure it is possible to get guages to fit in the dash where these OEM ones sit.  what I want to know is cost and stockists and price and what people use...  and can you plumb them in yourself.... I am not too into pillar mounted guages....

as you can see from my comment below... I have standard everything, but would like to be able to trust the guages a bit more...

anyone any ideas?....

Donato

The other option is to fit gauges into the unused single din space above or below your stereo, like mine! I have a piece that fits in a single din unit that angles all three of the gauges towards the driver..

hmmm thats an idea... what is the cost of one of these units?... and where do I put my cd\'s?...

secondly, what about the unused guages in the dash... I would much prefer to replace these with after market ones reather than move them to another area. bu8t it is worth thinking about.

cheers.

Donato

The single din three gauge holder was £20..it comes black and can be painted any colour..what you do with your cd\'s? stick em in a cd bag and on the back seat or the glove box...

The gauges are as cheap or expensive as you want them to be, as long as they are 55mm!

If you would like a picture let me know and i will take one for you..

the lemster

a picture would be cool if poss.

guages start at about 20 quid and go up....

would you suggest spending a bit more or are you just paying for the name?...

I would need a boost guage as extra...
oil temp/pressure if you can get one with both?...
hmmmm

decisioons

oooh ghot a meetin now... find out if we are moving to swindon or not!!!

Just bought a single DIN Sony headunit on Ebay so I\'ll have spare DIN room. Where did you get the gauge holder from Donato ?

Not too worried about the CDs, they\'ll go in the changer in the boot and I\'ll never have to change them with MP3s !!

and what would price of the insert be... I assume they are standard size

those guages look pricey... as I dont have any mods on my car what brand do you reccomend?

I would aldo need a black insert and then maybe black faced dials...

and what are those dials.... temp, pressure, boost?...couldnt quite see the units....

Donato

The insert was £20 when i got it. The insert only comes in black anyway, i painted mine.

The gauges werent cheap, but you can but any 55mm gauge you like in the three slots. They are oil pressure, oil temp and water temp, i still havent got round to actually connecting them yet...

Right guys im sorry but im really busy at the moment, so if you want the gauge holders the number is 01698 861928 company is A & E Forrest, if there are any problems with paying my card etc let me know and i will sort something if he cant...

Cheers Donato, spoke to Andy today, said he had one ready to go for £20, could I send a cheque ? I will, unless you can be my saviour and pick it up from him (don\'t know how local you are to him - 17 Ravenshill Drive, Cleland), I believe you are going to Rotorstock and I can give you the cash plus beverages on the Monday. Andy\'s number is 07775 626833.

Please let me know either way sir as I\'ll send a check off if no dice.

Muchas Gracias,

i cant find any 55mm guages anywhere I can only find 52mm dials... was it a typo or are we that specific that we need 55mm ones....

would be good if someone cleared this up for me....

and I assume all the sensors and things would come with the guages and they are reasonably easy to install or is it a garage job.... and also what make of guagesdo you reccomend... and I aint got 1000s of quid to spend?... would 30 quid ones do or are they unreliable?...

thanks for the help... enjoy the \'stock\'
