I will be connecting up my rear (and front) fogs this weekend. Any ideas where is the best place to take power from? Would like to put the switch on the centre console but need power from somewhere that works when the main lights are one, right? What did you guys do?

The neatest way to wire in a rear fog light is to use the third brake light (centre).  With the use of a relay, it can still be used as a brake light until the fog light switch is pressed then it remains on.  No need for a nasty halfords bodge on then, and/or you will not get do-gooders telling you that you have a reverse light out everytime you go to Tesco !

BenF,

Did you do this Mod yourself? Any chance of posting some instructions - particularly the wire connections and the connection to/from the relay.

I only use my fogs once per year - for the MOT, so this is a perfect compromise.

No problem,

I will dig out the diagram tonight and post it ASAP.

It involves a five way relay..........I have applied it to many an MX5 in the past and works fine

any joy? Sounds very cunning :D If, devils advocate mode on , i just got motormall to do a bog standard hanging un initially does it get drilled into bumper or owt that may have a more lasting effect?
I do definately want 2 working reversing lights as my garage takes some manouvering & in the dark i like to see what i\'m doing ;)

I was fortunate myself to have the importer add the foglight to the third brakelight when i bought it. does look good and much tidier, he just put an extra switch in the front by the ashtray as they arnt used in mine.

I have the driver side reverse light converted to a fog light, which is fine.  When reversing in the dark though, I find not much light being thrown behind me - a minor point, but worth noting.

This is what mine\'s like - very neat and professional looking but the reverse light is not too bright.  I wonder if it\'d be possible to \'uprate\' the remaining one to provide better lighting...
