Hi....

Coming from a Ford and Lancia background im paranoid about rust on my FD...

Do they rust? if so where..

Id rather spend a few days now undersealing etc then have to get the welder out in a few years..

thanks

gavin..

If its a fresh import I\'d get it undersealed.
Most Jap cars have very little in the way of undersealing as their roads are better and they don\'t chuck shed loads of salt over them.

Like you said better to do now and save the hassle of welding in the long term.

after owning a lancia i\'m not suprised you are worried about rust!
sorry couldn\'t resist that one!
as Rich says its worth spending a bit to get it undersealed. prevention is better than the cure

I used to have a Triumph (or two) which gave me an extreme paranoia about rust.

However the FD has been rust free so far, Jap import been here about 4 years, not undersealed.

I don\'t take it out in the salt unless I have to and I regularly wash the arches (and underneath as best as I can).

I think the earlier cars were quite bad for rust though?

Jap cars are I\'ve never really seen rust on, apart from on accident damaged panels. UK cars are pretty much without fail rusty some where :(

I\'ve never seen a UK car at the garage that did look a lot crustier that Japan counterparts. So probably well worth a bit of waxoyl when it enters the country i.e. BEFORE it gets damp and salted!
