Only two owners. i believe it was one of the last to be imported
Mileage: 120,000 ish
Spec: 2.6 twin turbo, 3rd Generation, M Reg
New clutch & reconditioned engine approx 50 thousand miles ago.

Having MOT next week.

Some repainting done, but no other changes.
Spec: Red:2.6 twin turbo, 3rd Generation, M Reg

Turbo’s not been replaced, specialist who fitted engine has large supply of parts, so stock should not be a problem.

what would this be worth?

many thanks

Hi Dean,

What\'s the price and who\'s the specialist that reconditioned the engine? Can you get any specifics on what was done to the engine exactly?

Cheers

Im not an expert, far from it... but if the engine was recon\'d 50k miles ago then thats irrelevant and could well be due another. off course it may for for another 30k but Id be doubtful?

Until its through an MOT who knows what it might fail on?

repainting? Id be a little wary, best to view the car and make sure its straight. and clean. who knows what its gonna look like? could be worth anything from 5k to 7k? hard to tell IMO

120k is heavy mileage for an FD. When you say recon. Was it rebuilt? and by who?. Also there are going to be other parts that need replacing soon at that mileage. Like the turbos as you mention.

It\'s probably going to need another rebuild in the near future so budget another 3k on top of whatever the price is plus be ready for new turbos and possibly more, depending how its been serviced and driven. If it still works out at less than 6k it may be worth it I reckon. I\'ve seen rebuilt cars still under warranty with only about 60k on the clock, for around the 6-7k mark recently.

In conclusion, personally I wouldn\'t pay more than 3.5k for it.

thanks for your replies. It\'s actually for my brothers 1st car. I am a little wary on the mileage. Seems a hefty amount. Jesus i thought 28K was high on my last Cerbera.

Basically i need to go down and see the car. Price wanted was around 3800, which i thought was steep.

Car is pretty stock, but from memory at Automotive Engineering rotarys ware not very well.

I will try and get more documentation on where the recon was done. Also how many miles he\'s done it.

if my brother is anything like me in driving he\'ll have a heavy foot, hence worried it\'ll go BANG.

If you don\'t mind me asking... how old is your brother? The reason for asking is because you might want to find out about insurance first. If you have already looked into this, I\'ll go back to my hole and be quiet :bandit

yeah could be an issue, but i think we\'ve got it covered.

otherwise i might buy for a run-around car

what is the standard BHP on the FD?

Donato

As standard.

Uk spec - 235

Jap import - 255 to 280 depending on the model.

Not being nasty.  You are quite lucky to have found a cover.  2k sounds cheap to me consider the above.  :)

Make sure you get that quote in writting before your commit to the purchase of the car.

Before buying my Rex I got an "online quote" from Adrain Flux. When I got round to getting the insurance I was told that it "must have been a mistake with the online form", despite what they print on the website the quote wasn\'t valid. It turned out after speaking to them on the phone the premium was a lot more than the online quote suggested it would be. The online quote was for just under 2K.
