on the mot does the 1995 model import fd3s have to have a cat present ie do they do a idle test and a fast idle test..has anyone put a high flow cat on the car without a air pump and then passed the test as the newer type cats are more efficient than the old ones..have heard talk of the mot stations being linked to the dvla for the tests soon and wonder how people without a air pump are going to pass the mot(me included).other than ramming the probe up a different car for the test this could be a prob..meanwhile all the untaxed uninsured cars that dont go near a mot station are free to carry on

If the car is pre Aug 95 it would need to have a cat test.
If it fails a cat test it\'s allowed to have a non cat test where they just test at idle.
If it\'s post Aug 95 it must have a cat test full stop.

has anyone tried the test with a high flow cat..when they test it the newer type metal cats are supposed to be more efficient are they not just wondering if without air pipe there is no chance of passing.not looking to run the car with high flow cat just for mot purposes as the tests are only going to get tougher i think.poss have a mid pipe with 2 high flow cats in there
