I just thought that since I am being pestered into showing some of my porting that I would put up a pic of a port that I have developed over the years of my own individual design.
The engine runs to 10,000 rpm and is used in circuit racing. The car has consistently won it\'s class for the last few years and won the overall championship a couple of years back!

Well thats different :D I\'ve seen rotor housings with bevels for big bridgeports but ... :rollin

MikeLMR

I like the looped O ring grooves where the rotor housing has been ported.

I presume this is done because the rules prevent a Peripheral port intake.

Carl

Hi Mike,
Yes the porting is completely within the rules, the existing inlet port on the outer edge where the manifold joins must be original, but from that point on it is free.I have a monster bridge running not so much of a narrow part on the rotor housing too that i have designed with the original ports still open.
The engine with the ports shown has been running in this form for 4 or 5 years. But I have a number other porting "Tricks" too that are pretty neat and they are not the usual bridge or perpheral port configuration.
I may put some pics up of my dowelling and a turbo bridgeport.

i\'m sure any more photos would be of great interest.

MikeLMR

a large J port in comparison looks rather small

Its almost like 2 halves of a P port with a bridge for the apex seals :D

You are right mike,
there is only 30mm width holding the apex seals in.
I call it my SP Port, or Side Peripheral port,

I was reading some stuff about Peripheral ports earlier on and how they leave a dead spot either side of the port and that some people (rohan Ambrose I think) was looking at doing a wide peripheral port with a bridge to stop the seals from dropping into it.

interesting stuff ... wonder what strange combinations will work best on rx8 engines in future years ? the unbroken rotor housings and side port exhaust must open up a few new options.

Who\'s been pestering you! Looks like when you copied my exhaust port, you got it upside down or do the rotors spin the other way.:rollin

I rather think that the boot is on the other foot Tim!At least my ports have been running for the last 5 years, and your\'s have only just been produced!LOL!
It is good to see that finally after years of trying to persuade you, that you are now doing porting,I can still remember not so very long ago that you were very much against the idea. And I will say that the porting you are doing is none too shabby either.Looking forward to your car running in anger again soon!

I guess that since "Rotorstock" is not held at a race circuit, that the worth of my race porting will not be shown much.
Unlike the type of drag racing we seem to be into at the moment,in proper circuit racing there are extensive detailed rules to be followed absolutely and the fields of competition are very strong. If your engine is deemed to be illegal then you are thrown out of the years competion. They seal engines randomly and also winners to check them over in order to keep a check on "cheats".
