Hi,
Would anyone be able to give me any info on how to convert one of the reverse lights to a fog light?

Cheers

Hi lwan / Ian,

l have used red finger nail varnish to "paint" the inside of lens to colour them before so the light shines through O/K, so you could use this to paint your reverse light.

Then it\'s only a matter of running the wires up to the dash then connect to a switch that lights up when turned on .

Hope this helps.

I convert the center brake light to a fog light on mine.

im experimenting at the moment, either i plan on finding some 3 or 4 part white bulbs (i cant remember if its 2 or 3 part standard, so one more) so i can wire the extra part up to come on with the switch on either side in the stock location, OR i am going to drill an extra hole on each side so i can insert an extra bulb on each side in the innermost round part of the light :) fingers crossed it\'ll work :D

OR.......

You could try and get hold of the rotary shaped fog light for the new RX-8, which would look pretty cool hung under the rear number plate!

hmmm the rx8 fog is cool but not sure it would suit the rx7, i mean it would stick out almost as bad as the square version that i have seen hanging down on the 7! but then again it could look good, who knows, i\'ll let someone else try is first ;)

Seeing as there are (or at least appear to be) two brake light bulbs on either side, has anyone tried to convert one of these over to a fog light? Any assistance would be welcome on how possible or not this would be.

Cheers

I have the driver side reverse light converted to a fog light, which is fine.  When reversing in the dark though, I find not much light being thrown behind me - a minor point, but worth noting.

smarts, thats how my car is rigged up at the moment, but im not too keen on it as i like having two dots as brake lights :D . i will try get some pics in the next few days but basically you will have to cut one of the wires on the innnermost part of the left light (not the black one, this is for the dim light and that will still work) as if you braked when you had the fog light turned on on the right on they would look identical. ( so your using your fully lit brake light as a fog, so obviously you cant have a working brake light on the other side! :)

so that part of the left light would never be used again as a brake light, and on the right, on mine, there are 3 wires running down from the switch, the black one is soldered into the black one on the innermost as this is your power for the dim lights which shall remain in use as on the other side. if memory serves there is also a green wire and brown wire in the innermost part going to the bulb. cut the brown and green and splice the remaining two wires leading from your front mounted switch, and voila, a fog light :)

im not good at describing these things so here\'s a VERY rough pic so you get the idea

on the left you only need to cut one wire as this will open the circuit and stop the brake light functioning on that bulb, but not your driving lights.

on the right, both green and brown wires have been cut, and joined with two wires leading from the 3 wired switch up front (i put them in as pink and blue just so you can tell the difference!) , severing the circuit for the brake light, but not the driving lights. the black wire is not cut, but joined with the 3rd wire from the switch up front (im not 100% sure why but i think it powers my l.e.d switch and possibly makes the whole circuit join together and work properly, either way it works! ;) )

Ryb, cheers for that - i was hoping there was a relatively easy way to do it. It doesn\'t seem all that possible to blow my car up doing it so i shall give it a go!
