coolant level

have checked my coolant recently and my level seems to sit about 1.5-2 inches below the filler neck no matter how many times i fill it up to the top.have undone ast to make fluid rise in there and then refill main filler to brim but still seems to settle at about 1in below filler neck..is this ok dont have any leaks or gurgling..also when engine is hot takes a long time ie about 2 hours before i cas safely remove the center filler cap without getting coolant coming out.no water flowing or overflowing from expansion tank

I think your levels are normal dude.
I believe the coolant system gets pressurised when the engines on and upto operating temp so until it cools doen sufficiently taking the filler cap off is gonna result in very hot fluid flying everywhere (not good).

If I take my cap off after say 2 hours the fluid is right upto the top of the filler neck. If I leave it overnight the level will drop by 1-1.5 inches.

took filler cap off and started car no bubbles or eruptions level slowly rose until near top and then i replaced cap..is the expansion tank water meant to be hot or cold i just seem to have water in there but it is not hot and doesnt seem to have much in there..the dipstick is pretty naff for trying to figure out how much water is in there.engine was only rebuilt a year ago am just panicking in case the water seals have gone for whatever reason
