Hi to all in OZ and NZ,
I have a few questions for you.
We see in the southern hemisphere in Fast Fours and rotaries some great cars with hi power engines.I would like to know
in hi power turbo engines say over 450 hp what sort of life expectancy are you getting from your engines?
What sort of rebuild are you getting?
Also what is your car being used for, street or drags or circuit?

I ask this to get an idea of how long hi power engines are lasting,no need to mention builders if you don\'t want, just some idea of the above. This includes 13b and 20b.
Kind regards
Carl:) :burnout

Does the lack of replies mean that there are few people in Australia and NZ on this site?
Or is it that no one wants to give an indication of how long their hi power rotary is lasting?
Even some thoughts would be appreciated.

Kind regards

Carl:)

it all depends who does the tune of your car and the rebuilds etc....mazfix in brissie do all my work and i run an 20b turbo combo in my rx3 and is street driven every weekend..with the odd race or too...has been in car for 4 years now  and never blew up and was standard import motor , not modified internally at all and had 500+hp to wheels on 18psi....i pulled apart for more hp at christmas and is all done , race seals , dowelled , ported etc  and now makes 620hp to wheels on 19psi...so if the rite people do the job it lasts for a long time...cheers

ok so whats the key to lasting power.. the parts all have to go together in a cetain way so i spose its the fuel and ignition. what should we be looking for from the tuners over here. is there a secret lamda to set it to or a cetain amout of timing advance..

give us some clue\'s

PLEASE

RX3ROTOR

to start with the i will list the mods in order you should perform to achieve this...change air filter to k+N or similiar, bigger hi flow exhaust from turbo back, change efi computer to microtech..comes with bosch coils..these are made for rotors and work the best, front mount intercooler with bigger pipng, bigger 10mm leads, ngk plugs egv 9,s or egv 10,s ...then new turbo to4 garret roller bearing which has to be for rotor , with new exhaust manifold made and custom external waste gate ...all these mods are bolt on and will bring an standard s5 motor ..no turbo mods to 300+ hp to wheels and good for 11second 1/4 mile..or with turbo mods make 400hp + and good for 10,s at drags..with this power your car is an weapon on streets also....if you use standard computer with piggy back option etc..they dont work really best to change..and for timing advance 15 degrees most on standard motor..good place to start....if you buy stuff get from oz  ..ie mazfix in qld..would be cheap with aussie dollar also...hope this helps..cheers

Well thats a 10 second engine but then you need the rest of the car to go with it

Gearbox, diff , tyres , suspension ... mucho £££££\'s

RX3ROTOR

yer in older school rx,s you need everything replaced in driveline..but there are heaps of s4-s6 rx7,s with standard boxes and rear ends in them running 10,s without to much dramas..the later model stuff is pretty strong  and all the old school mazdas fit these g/boxes also...cheers

oops, yeh the later cars are much easier

but building a quick 3rd gen is no fun as everyone expects them to be quick ;)

Archbish

Bloody hell - 10s!!!

What is the current UK rotary quarter record - the quickest I\'ve heard of is 12.37 by Geff at totb...
Everyone wants to be like ArchBish,
Cos the Bish is never glum.

RX3ROTOR

yer theres plenty of rotors over here from 1982 - 1996 model rx7,s etc that use standard drivelines mainly..that run 11,s easy on street tyres..and then bolt slicks on for 10,s...people been doing it for years now...they think an 11 second rotor is a bit slowish now..has to run 10,s or quicker...either way its geeting out of control..cheers:rollin
