Well i picked my car up from the bodyshop today, so finally the accident damage to the rear bumper is sorted.

However, i now have a problem of a different nature. On 1st inspection everytime the car was coming on to boost, the engine was cutting out. So i disconnected the battery for 30 mins to reset everything, and the car boosts fine.... ....UNTIL you apply lots of throttle then once the revs reach around 4K rpm get loads of what i think is misfiring, i.e lots of loud popping from the exhaust and the car judders slightly and doesn\'t pick up speed properly.

Could i just need new plugs or is it something more sinister??

In every other respect the car runs fine and starts hot or cold fine.

So if any of you technical boffins have any ideas or hints or tips.... Then answers on a postcard to this address lol....

Not wishing to heap more pain sounds like a problem with the second turbo kicking in, check out the rats nest for defective hoses or easier is the \'Y\' pipe hoses

Ooopsssss my fault ... Sorry bout this John, forgot to mention that its a T88 single turbo.

Well yer tit you should have said:D
Sounds likely to be plugs, dependant on boost your running colder plugs would be required I would suggest 10.5 - 11\'s

I know lol, but i was caught up in all the emotion of finally having her back and sorted, after spending almost 2 weeks apart. Am only running 0.6 - 0.7 BAR at mo (not sure what that is in Psi).  But in couple of weeks should have my PFC so will be off to Pips to get it tuned and some other bits fitted, so will hopefully be running a slightly higher boost 0.9 BAR and see some proper power results then ....

Cheers for your help :)

My gawd no after market ecu? what other mods have you carried out to support the T88:confused:

I would be very carefull driving it untill you have a map ect in it.

Talk about putting the cart before the horse, 1st rule of modifying a rotary........REPLACE THE ECU:wave

Single turbo on a standard ECU?? Cant be a good combo bud. Id wait until the PFC is mapped in before driving again.

Could damage the engine otherwise?

Icesurf3r

Calm down guys.....

It does have an FCOn Pro V ECU, that was mapped in Japan by Top Secret! But there really doesn\'t seem to be anyone in the UK that does alot with them, so that is why i am changing to the Apexi PFC, as it is more tuner friendly for this country!!!!!

Just out of curiosity, if i\'m only going to running a max of 1 BAR till i get some other bits sorted out, will i still need the colder plugs or will standard ones be ok until i go over the 1 BAR???

Ed_RX7

i\'d say wait until you get the PFC...before you go for the plugs...get it mapped and take it from there.......it could be ignition break up....if it is you\'ll need an ignition amp. If its not anything else obvious..thats if you don\'t have one already.

Don\'t think it\'s ignition break up as the car has always run fine in the past. The problem has only just begun to occur, and when i went to the rolling day at Noble motorsport, they did mention that i may need new plugs in the very near future.

Also spoke to Pip today and discussed the symptoms with Pip and he was 99.99% sure that it was plugs, as he originally checked the car over when it was 1st imported in Jan. He also said would be best to go with 10\'s for now, so they\'re on their way to me, and am hopefully gonna be over at WGT in a couple of weeks to get the PFC fitted.
