I went down to Lydden Hill to watch the first round of the British Rallycross Championship today. Low and behold a silver FC bombing round on a practice lap!!! Couldn\'t believe my eyes. Needless to say I was straight down to the padock and got talking to the driver (Dave Brown) about the car. It was a normally aspirated EGI. He picked it up off a mate for £50, stripped it out and rollcaged it using an old Mini rollcage from last season\'s car (lol), chucked a proper seat in it, some second had wheels and tyres and rivited a metal sheet over the sunroof. It was completely standard yet he was running in "Super Modified", quite why I never found out. He did quite well in the first heat, up against modified Clio V6\'s (incredibly fast) and Cossies (yawn). However as the day progressed he seemed to loose power and traction. He knew nothing about the engine but was bloody keen and was pleased with the overall package for a random 80\'s jap car. It was great to see a rotor motor in competition and every time the grid lined up the comentator would remark on the "XR7" (bless). Hopefully he\'ll get some more power out of it and better tyres for the next round! Just thought I\'d let everyone know, as it would be great if we could give him some support over the season. Theres also a Rover 200 with a mid mounted rotary doing the rounds in Autograss. I\'ve yet to find out any more but its a competitive car against the twin bike engined stuff.
