LOOKING TO SEE IF ANYONE HAS HAD A REBUILD DONE BY THIS COMPANY CALLED :
                                             RX MOTORS

THEY ARE QUOTING ME £2500 FIXED FOR A COMPLETE REBUILD REPLACING EVERYTHING WITH A FULL MASTER REBUILD KIT AND NEW ROTOR HOUSINGS. THAT WILL ALSO BE WARRENTIED FOR 12 MONTHS WITH UNLIMITED MILAGE. ALL I NEED TO DO IS DROP THE CAR TO THEM AND 2 WEEKS LATER IT WILL BE READY.            I THINK THEY ARE BASED IN DORSET .

THEY ARE ADVERTISING IN THE CLUBS OFFICAL PUBLICATION SO I PRESUME THEY ARE A REPUTABLE COMPANY .

HAS ANYONE HAD A REBUILD DONE BY THEM ???

Tim is spot on you won\'t go wrong with him or his workmanship.
He did my rebuild four years ago and the engine is still whirring like a good un.The guy has been around for years and knows plenty about rotarys. Cheers Leigh.

You cant go far wrong with them mate, i had a rebuild done with them and was well happy with the results, i would also suggest a mild port job to help it all breath a little easier too.

WHAT SORT OF EXTRA MONEY ON TOP OF THE £2500 ARE YOU TAKING ABOUT FOR THE MILD PORT AND TO HAVE IT TUNED OR WILL THEY ROAD ROLL IT ANYWAY WHEN THEY DO THE REBUILD ?

If you do anything to the engine you really need to fit a programable ECU to ensure the correct fueling etc, this normally would be an Apexi PFC (they are the most common). Buying, Fitting and tuning will add approx £800+. A little less or more depending on where its bought from. Then you\'d really want to do a couple of other things if you were bothering with a porting (mid pipe, back box and inductiuon kit for starters). This all adds £££££ to the cost.
Best thing is to call Tim at RX if you are thinking of going there.

CHEERS STEVE.

WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST MATE . DO YOU THINK JUST THE ENGINE REBUILD IS ENOUGH OR WOULD YOU GO FOR THE NEW APEXI - PORT ETC

I AM WORKING ON A BIT OF A BUDGET BUT THE LAST THING I NEED IS FOR IT TO BLOW UP AGAIN.

WILL JUST A REBUILD BE OKAY DO YOU THINK.

THE CAT IS ALSO KNACKERED BUT I HAVE BEEN TOLD I JUST GET A CAT REPLACEMENT PIPE FITTED. IS THAT TRUE ?

I DID NOTICE YOU ARE FROM ABERDEEN ONLY 100 MILES FROM ME . IF YOU DONT MIND ME ASKING WHO DO YOU GET TO DO THE WORK ON YOUR RX7. I CANT FIND ANYONE IN SCOTLAND .

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP BUD !!!

Graeme,
Its really down to you and the power you want from the car. I\'ve not had much mods done to mine and doubt I would port it BUT it is a fairly cheap (few extra hundred I think) way of getting extra bhp when the engine is being rebuilt.
If you are on a budget then its also going to be down to the cost. That £2.5K rebuilt will have crept upto £3.5k easily!
Have you ever owned a high performance car before? I have not and for the first few years the car was fast enough for me. Since then, yes a bit more power would be good, but not needed.

The service side IS A PAIN! I currently have a turbo problem and the car really needs to be seen by a specialist. WGT is closest, near Manchester, and is a long drive there.
For other smaller things inc. general servacing I would suggest "the-garage" in Wishaw. Marc has worked on a few FD\'s now and outwith the guy\'s south of the border is probably the most experianced guy. But Marc will tell you, he is still learning with the FD.

I did not notice you were from I\'ness, I have a lot of family up there. :)

I got my car rebuilt at Tim\'s just over 14 months ago.  Engine\'s been running really sweetly ever since.  I guess it depends what you want from your engine, whether you\'re planning on going big power eventually (i.e. single turbo).

I got Geff to whack in a PFC, 1200cc secondary injectors and a straight through exhaust - total cost was about £1,750 for parts and labour and she\'s now pushing out 317rwhp on Tim\'s non-ported engine.

In terms of value-for-money, I\'d recommend getting Tim to do it.  You\'re paying for an engine rebuild after all, there\'s nowt much between the parts used (sorry if that\'s a massive assumption), so it\'s just the labour involved, and Tim\'s got more experience than most.
