in the near future im planning on buying a power fc + commander, and i saw this add-on for it, im just wondering is this better than a standalone boost controller like the avc-r or is there little difference?

cheers

I think there is a difference of you get a 3 bar map sensor with the boost controller kit, yet you dont with the avc-r kit.

I think the boost control kit for the power fc is basically for if you want to run more than the stock map sensor can handle - up to about 1.2kg/cm or 17-ish PSI boost. The Power FC control boost up to around this bracket pretty well, especially if you have datalogit to play around with.

The kit is a 3bar map sensor and a couple of additional solenoids I think  (allegedly robbed from the SAVC-R).

I dont know any one whos got one for their PFC yet. Not much point unless you are gonna be running alot of boost...

hmmm sounds like it is a more capable unit and almost £120 cheaper... hmmm... tempting

I dont think the 2 bits of kit are comparable; the boost control kit I dont blieve will give you all the bells and whistles that a boost controller will i.e. adjustable gain, scramble, pretty lcd screen etc etc etc et etc

Jay Dee or his amigo may be able to provide a more defninitive answer...

I know that John Helps uses the HKS boost controller with his Apexi PFC and is having great success with it.

His FD flys and he likes the way it controls boost.

I have this kit on my car, as I will be running more than17psi v soon:-), it comes with a 3 bar map sensor (different to the AVC-R), solenoid (same as AVC-R) and a small harness to plug the stock map sensor into the Pfc.
I did it this way as I did not want another controller in the car, and it controls boost very well with my external wastegate ( now that it\'s plummed in the solenoid right :o
The AVC-R does have alot of helpful features as 20B_boy has listed a few some more are: in gear boost settings, variable boost in rev range ie if you have twins you can tune out any spike.

Yes Danny, I was saying that I think a seperate BC is the way to go. I\'m saying the PFC boost control kit just controls the amount of boost rather than a controller e.g. Blitz DSBC (which John Helps has, not an HKS job :D) which lets you play with gain etc...
