Hi there,

I\'m posting a question on behalf of a webless FD3S owning chum.

It\'s come to that time that all rotary owner have to face - the rebuild.
He was first thinking of rebuild, but going for a larger single turbo conversion but, being a bit of a power nut, started thinking about the 20b triple rotor conversion.

Does anyone know any specialists that can supply the required parts for the conversion.

He\'s seen cars that have had it done in magazines and the like, but can\'t find any details of where to get the engine and ancilliaries from.

Any help will be greatly appreciated...

Thanks
DBT

Banner above for Hayward rotary engines.
Give Carl a call, he has built a 4 rotor that will be at Rotorstock this year.

Or try Pip @ WGT engineering on 01606 48866.

Or Dragon performance @ //www.dragonperformance.co.uk

The engine and ancillaries are the easy bit mate, its putting it in without ruining the cars inherently excellent handling abilities thats the (costly) problem. Its a big budget thing to do right, any one who says different is a silly billy :)

If u r ever down our way feel free to pop in for a chat, we\'ve done one and are in the midst of another - mine - which is mounted about 7 inches backward and uses a lot of one off bits and bobs.

Cheers guys...

I just tried the Haywards link and it goes through to a page not found : http://www.portland.co.uk/404.esp
I\'ve heard Carl\'s name mentioned before in the same sentence as big power roatries.

I\'ll pass on the details to Dru - the man with the plan.

Cheers for the advice 20_b boy... I\'ll let him know and I\'ll be in touch when we get mobilised and ready for action :-)

Thanks
Dan

This may seem a bit obvious to most of you but I assume the ECU will need remapping to take care of fuelling and ignition.

Knowing not a jot about the rotaries, can the standard ECU be remapped, or will you need an aftermarket ECU.
Which ECU\'s are most commonly used on the Rex\'s?

Thanks

For a 20B??? you\'ll need new management AND THEN SOME LOL!

Thought so...
I take it by "and them some" you mean injectors, hi capacity fuel pump etc etc etc?

I\'ve just had a chat with Dru and since you\'ve said "very" expensive to do it properly.
For everything for a 20b conversion - bearing in mind his car is currently standard other than the exhaust system - what sort of region are we looking at cost wise?
Just a ball park figure for him to mull over to see if he really wants it, or if he\'ll stick with the 13b twin rotor setup and just go the big turbo route...

Cheers

I would hazard a guess at an extra 10k on top of your coverting to big single 13b price.

darkblueturbo

That is rather expensive...!!

Not sure what his funds situation is but I think that might convince him to just rebuild the 13b and go for a big turbo...
It would if it were my car.

I\'ll let you know how it goes when he gets moving.

Lovely geezer, Dru, but things can take a while to get going... I\'ll keep nudging him...

20B_boy

I would say an additional 10K is conservative - but it really depends on how \'properly\' you want to do it.

........you could forget putting it where it\'s not meant to go and just buy a Cosmo 20B instead? Awesome car, awesome engine:)
