The boost limitation is down to how much detonation (Self ignition at the wrong time) that the seals can stand up to. The standard ones are designed for standard boost. You cannot turn up the boost without doing a whole lot more mosifications.

With all due respect we have made over 700hp in a 13b with no mods except mild porting. The engine ran all standard internalls including apex seals, it ran 8.6 at over 155mp/h on the quarter.

The porting will mainly determine where the power kicks in, but the intake manifold design also plays a big part. Shorten up the inlet track and watch the peak power/rpm go through the roof. We have a street port combo that makes around 800hp at 8600rpm. With the standard s6 intake manifold it sruggled to make 680hp at 7500rpm.
Basically its a combination of porting, inlet and exhaust, in that order.

Wow I didn\'t realise the inlet would make that much difference.
You got any pics of your car with engine bay mate?

We now have a shortened LIM on the drag car, we cut 3 inches out of a 13brew one.

0.85bar in the wet is fun.....

:D

It\'s twice the fun with HICAS as well ;)

I see exactly what you mean about nitrous - I think we\'re violently agreeing. Anything that gives you more go without faffing about with actual physical compression of the air has to be good. So that\'s nitrous, or any sort of charge cooling, or lightening the car, or binning the AC, or changing the gearing (the 8\'s FD is 4.444 and you don\'t get 1:1 until 4th...), or or or...

BNA: On the same turbo, lower boost is probably more lag, yeah.

QuoteAnother god thing is that with traditional mods, they increase peak horsepower but often don\'t do much for hp and torque from as low as 3000rpm.

How dare you bring this back on topic. :D Porting a rotary would be a good example of that.

I\'m an area-under-the-curve sort of person, so I ought to look into Nitrous, really...

10 minutes of WOT is a hell of a lot of real time, even on a track, unless it has a Mulsanne stylee straight (and that\'s not my kind of track anyway, TBH.)

BNA: The RENESIS makes almost as much power in NA form than stock 7s did in turbo - a hell of a lot of that has come from intake tuning.

The manifold on my FD is shorter than that ;-)
