OK I know there have been a lot of posts relating to this but please bear with me, its just a quickie hopefully.

Since Saturday I\'ve constantly got the buzzer and warning light on.

System is filled to the max using only the centre filler and system burped. It only took 0.5L to fill.
Piping checked and no visible leaks.
Full rebuild 5K ago so hopefully not water seals.

I presume the car has a sensor to detect coolant levels. Whereabouts is it ? How do I check if the sensor is faulty ?
I can see a sensor on the main filler neck but have been told its a temp sensor not level sensor, is that correct ?

Any other suggestions greatly appreciated.

The sensor you can see on the front of thermostat housing/main fill point is the level sensor, the tempreture sensors are on the back of this housing.

You can disconnect the sender at it\'s electrical connector (take care these can get a bit brittle) use a short piece of wire to link connector to metal part on the engine. turn on the ignition and check to see buzzer does not come on, this will tell you if the sender has gone bad.

Hi,

there have been a few people with that kind of problem.

Maybe just following the instructions about fluching the cooling system on this site will help.

Disconnected the level sensor on the main filler neck.
Buzzer in cabin went off (thank gawd). Just been out for a drive this morning and after 2 miles the add coolant buzzer came back on.

If the level sensor is disconnected is there anything else that will trigger the warning buzzer ?

Just disconnecting the sensor is not enough, you need to put a short piece of wire from the connector to a metal part of your engine Not sure why it took so long for the buzzer to go off when just disconnecting the sensor, but if you follow the above and you buzzer stays off at least you will know you have a bad sender.

Hope this helps

Cheers Kev.
Update.
Just done that and the buzzer has stayed off.
Spent some time cleaning the contacts and re-crimping and hey presto put back on the original sender and the buzzer is still staying off so it seems it was just down to dirty / loose contacts.
