hello folks

my fd has been standing for a couple of months now and i try and start it once a fortnight or so. Anyway i got it started yesterday and inside the cabbing with or without engine running i can hear a faint buzzer noise coming from behind the dash somewhere.

The coolant light has not come on so i know its not that. Before i got it started yesterday the battery was as dead as death.

Its really weird because it didnt do it last time a few weeks ago, and the battery was just as flat then!

Also when the turbo timer shuts down the engine and all the electrics,  the buzzer stops sounding, but when i open the door it starts to sound again..weird?!?

has any1 had this before?

grinder

its not a lights on warning buzzer is it ??

check to make sure the boot is shut properly , if may not and the boot light is always on

not 100% if this helps - but its something else to check for :)

..that sounds like the ECU#2/F100 thats bleeping behind the dashboard. I received a replacement one from REWorx and that was the fault it had with it....

...not sure how \'faulty\' it is. I hoped to put in tomorrow and spend some time finding out what exactly it is doing, but its raining very heavily here..again!!

well ive charged the battery for a couple of hours, wacked it back on the car and its still doing it. I thought that being a dead battery it might cause funny thing to happen as ive experienced in the past with other cars (fluctuating rev counter etc..). when i take the keys out the ignition( with the doors closed and lights off) the buzzer sounds for about 5-10seconds then it shuts up.

Im thinking that it could be the clifford alarm warning me that the battery back up is low, or even worse something has broken without even being used!?!

I forgot to mention earlier that i used a portable battery booster to get the car started. ive used this about 4 times now and ive had no problems untill now.

All the time the car has been standing, i have left the battery connected for the alarm to keep theives away,  but the battery must have been on it way out because it went dead flat in 1 week.

i will update this thread if i find out what the problem is, but personally i think that the too low of a current has burnt or shorted an electronic component in the ecu etc  :reallymad :reallymad

by the way it sound like the rev limiter buzzer but very quiet..the noise is coming from the pedal area.

leggysrx7..so did you have the constant faint beeping that i have and did your rx run as normal otherwise.. apart from the constant beeeeeeeep mine seems to run as normal.

how much did you pay and is the unit easily replaceble?

leggysrx7

Hey Buddy

My initial F110 had a fault with bleeper, bleeping then stopping. The replacement from REWORX had the symptoms that your describing now, as soon as i plugged in the three connectors it buzzed constantly....so i assumed it was faulty and removed it. Checked it in a car that had no faults and it does the same so ive gotta assume that its fecked!!!Planning to send it back to reworx tomorrow :(

I got mine for around £35, but the price can be from £25-£70, or new from Mazda at £170+vat........

I dont think that REWorx have any left though..seems to be a common fault :( and it isnt that hard to replace. I\'ll PM details i received from Pete.

sorry to resurrect this thread but my car does exactly what was described by the original poster.

How do I go about replacing the ECU? Is it something I can do myself?

RobbieRX-7

I managed to repair mine. Moisture build up inside the F100 ecu unit caused the track on the printed circuit board to burn away. I soldered thin wire to repair this track and it\'s worked fine for the last 2 years. You can remove it but it\'s fiddly to get the connectors out. It\'s to the right of the ignition key behind the dash.

I get a series of 5 beeps for about 3 times once I start the car. It\'s something to do with my clifford alarm tho.

I need to get it ripped out and something else put in. It doesn\'t work anyway! lol.

That sounds like the anti hijack device blackjaxx. Do you have to enter a code otherwise the car shuts down??

Jim_rx7

Nah... it only does it about 3 times then it stops. Car keeps going and runs fine etc. The alarm does nothing apart from that beeping.

The previous owner said the alarm used to go mad, so he disconnected the car battery. Now the alarm does nothing!?!

Will either get it replaced/fixed.

well on my car yesterday just before I got home the indicators/hazards started flashing rapidly by themselves and the lights started dimming intimittently. Now the car wont start. The turn of the key to fire it up causes all electrics to die automatically. Would this be the ECU?

And I have a constant buzzing sound! I tried disconnecting battery and reconnecting but no joy.

dreamers

Car now wont start and all electrics die on turn of the key. Can someone help ? Plsssssssssssss. Seems something electrical has gone wrong big time.

RobbieRX-7

I reckon the F100 has shorted out flattening the battery. Try charging  the battery or bumping from a roll in 2nd gear.

AA man came and sorted it. It was the connection to the negative terminal of the battery was bad. Also it was very dirty and needed a good clean. He jump started car and its been fine since.

Thanks for all your help.
