Hi All

when braking or doing manouvers i get a clunking noise and this is starting to worry me.

Does anybody know what could cause such a thing?

Donato

Its a bit vague mate. Can you feel any vibrations or the knocking or is it just audible noise? Could be suspension bush/s worn...could be a lot of other things though..

Hy man, that\'s What I\'m having.

Sometimes when braking but most of all when driving in 2nd, 3rd or 4th gear at 3-4k RPM and releasing the throttle. There is a short clunkg then and then it\'s gone. As far as i could notice on my car it\'s in the right rear section.

I already have been under the car with a lamp checking the differential bushing but they were intact. The only noticable thing was a very light movement of the wheel in vertical direction. ( I sat on my but before the rear wheel, hands at 3 and 9 o\'clock and trying to shake it vertically)

My best guess now is it could be the trailing arms. They have one rubber attachement point and one uniball as far as I can remember.

Anyhow... I"ll be changing my suspension soon with Koin\'s and springs so I"ll have to see if it will still be there. If it is, then i guess I\'m gonna start saving for a complete bushing kit.

my bet is pillow ball bushings.

Yeah i know sorry , cant really explain it very well , just seems to clunk lol especially when doing 3 point turns (have to do 1 every day in my couldisac)

could it be bushes etc.. what do i look at/for

Donato

Best thing to do is jack the car up and starting with the wheel give everything a \'wiggle\' to see if anythings loose, do this one wheel at a time starting with the wheel itself, then remove the wheel and move onto the suspension and brakes. BE SURE TO SUPPORT THE CAR ON AXLE STANDS VERY SECURELY! Dont wont to wiggle it on top of you!

If you cant find any movement in the bushes or anything else then pop into a local garage, they don\'t have to be an expert in Rx7\'s to find a worn bush...

popped into my local garage and they are going to put it on the ramp on friday and have a look around , like you said they dont need to be an RX guru , bushes are bushes same as tracking arms , they can spot wear and tear.

I do have a similiar problem. When ever I brake, i get clunking noise from the right rear side. Sooo it turn out to be few worn bushes at the right rear lower arm. Change to a used lower arm and viola the noise is gone....

i dont get any strange noises on my FD (yet....)

however i used to get a clonking in my integra whenever i was using first or reverse (i.e parking or 3 point turns)

i found the pads were moving up and down in the brake caliper slightly and \'clonking\', i bent the shims slightly and this stopped the noise?
