Insuring your rotary / Peter best. question.

thanks for the help. I might just go back to Aon. Their quote was £240. I\'m probably just being a bit greedy!

Insuring your rotary / Peter best. question.

I have just got off the phone from PB. They said that a car with my size engine (2.6?) would have to be garaged to be covered by Classic Car Ins. I haven\'t got the space so they suggested Everyday Ins. I got cut off at that point so before I ring back I thought I\'d see what everyone thinks!
note: I\'ve tried the "it\'s a 1.3, honest" ploy before, but to no avail! I didn\'t even bother to try this time.

cheers all

Quote from: ashc;631242certainly i regretted the change for the first week, got very carsick - seemed to be an unnatural oscillation on the road but it settle nicely now, and i love them. Just give it a bit of time!

this describes my situation very well - with the addition that the car seems to dip slightly more at the front when I brake and lifts when I accelerate than it did before. (It\'s only a tiny bit mind you - if I had just bought the car I wouldn\'t be complaining!) It\'s just what you get used to I suppose.

Hi all.
To answer the above: I have only driven a tiny bit on the new shocks so maybe I should drive them in for bit before I get too critical(anal?)!

The springs are whatever came with the Superstreets. And I think they do drop the hight by about an inch. I could raise the car slighty but would it help?

cheers

I haven\'t had my wheels done yet but they were the only people to help with a replacement valve proplem. Very helpful and the wheels they are working on look good.
might be worth a check.
ps they quoted about £150 per wheel for 3 part split rim.

O.K. to answer all the above:

Rear bushes were replaced at the same time as the shocks.
Shocks and bushes were replaced by ReWerx.
Had 4 wheel alignment done just before hand ( i know it\'s the wrong way round but ReWerx assured me that they wouldn\'t effect the alignment).
This was all done because of a handling problem (see post: oversteer on deceleration).

I will adjust the dampers and see if that helps. I just wanted to check with everyone that hardening the dampers would make for a firmer ride. (my neighbour seemed to think that i may have to change the springs!)

Should I drive it as it is for a while first? Does it take a while for new shocks to settle in?

Cheers all

Hi all. I have just had some Tien SuperSteets fitted and find them a touch "wallowy". It actully made me feel car sick! The car seems to tilt more than it was before. The old shocks were standard BUT knackered so were posibly harder than they were supposed to be. Does that sound posible. If so, can I cure the "wallowy" feel of the SuperStreets by hardening the dampeners? They are set to a standard setting (12?) at the moment.

Thanks for the replies. I finally found an alloy wheel refurbisher to do them. At the moment he has put a straight rubber one in (which is fine by me) but is trying to find the correct replacements. Apparently, the set he ordered projected too far into the inside of the tyre and can be dangerous. He hasn\'t even charged me for the rubber valves as he thinks it\'s a temporary solution and wants to do the job properly.

Good business sense as I now feel obliged to use him to refurbish the wheels in the near future!!

3rd generation RX-7's / Locking problems
July 19, 2009, 11:55:02 AM
same thing\'s happening to me. It turns out that the short cable joining the alarm/motor to the door lock has snapped. (quite a common problem apperently) maybe yours has done the same thing? Mine unlocks ok but wont lock the drivers side.

hope this was of some help

3rd generation RX-7's / drivers door lock cable.
July 10, 2009, 10:50:54 AM
hiya,
the drivers side door lock cable is broken.
I cant find a replacement. Does any one have one and how do I replace it?
I got the panel off but couldn\'t see where it goes to once it disapears inside the door and consequently how to detach it.
Any help would be most welcom.

p.s. the score so far for July: RX7= New shocks, new bushes, four wheel alignment, rear brake binding, leaky valve on alloy(more trouble than expected) and now the drivers door not locking. ME= Migrain, nervous tension and negative bank balance!

Quote from: SmbFD3S;624365Yep i had/have this problem on the advans.... Couldn\'t be bothered to look around so just had the standard rubber ones fitted instead, less hassle tbh...
That\'s what I want to do, but the tyre people have all said that it can\'t be done. I can\'t see why not.

Quote from: Spartacus;624241Can you not just replace the valve inside the body?

That\'s what I\'m going to do. I have to get hold of a new valve first. So far every alloy wheel shop has said they can\'t help!

Hi all.
file:///C:%5CDOCUME%7E1%5CJason%5CLOCALS%7E1%5CTemp%5Cmsohtml1%5C01%5Cclip_filelist.xml">  I have just discovered a leaky wheel valve. The problem is that the valve is part of the wheel and not the tyre. It is a solid metal valve bent at a right angle to the wheel rim.
This means that as it is a specialised part for the wheel none of the tyre shops can replace it! Has anyone else had this problem and if so where did you get your wheel valve from?

cheers
