2nd generation RX-7's / Re: Whats it worth!
July 17, 2023, 07:50:29 PM
I know this is an old thread, but I'm a fellow UK spec TII very owner.
Owned since 2005 but last on the road in 2019. It's been garaged and got it running end of last year. Took some new plugs and a lot of scary white smoke for the first 5-10 mins but all running sound now. I need to get the brakes fixed as they've lost all pressure and the very roof needs replacing (although not as bad as some I've seen).

I think it's time to pass it on to someone else who will love it though!

Hiya,

Let us know how you get on - I'm Midlands based too and my roof is distinctly leaky!

2nd generation RX-7's / FC turbo clutch
February 01, 2017, 04:25:43 PM
Hello, I'm in need of  a new clutch for my 91 FC vert - do we have a preferred club supplier/ideas where to get one from?
Have been quoted £280+VAT from Mazda and £258(inc VAT) from a motor factors (think it may have been an Exedy).

I don't need anything fancy as only do about a 1000 miles a year over the summer.

Also I had a go at the wiper relay replacement last year. Brushed up on my soldering skills and replaced it ok but its still only working on slow - will give it another look when it comes out of storage in a couple of months.

Thanks

2nd generation RX-7's / Rev limit buzzer short?
August 24, 2011, 11:39:14 AM
Hi,

Just recently my rev limit buzzer has been randomly buzzing even at low revs (often when pulling off). It even stayed on constantly the other day until I revved it actually to the limit then it quietened down again!

I guess its shorting somewhere, but wheres it actual location so I can check it?

Also does anyone know of a clutch slave cylinder for sale anywhere, as mine has had a bit of a leak for a while now (fine as long as I remember to top it up before I set off, its just annoying when I forget and can\'t get into gear at a roundabout! :D :Hammer )

Cheers...

Well disconnecting the other two wires has fixed the issue, no mores fuses popping!
Hmm now to hunt down a switch ;)

On a slightly different note  - I\'ve been told that the gears crunching from 3rd to 4th is the synchro going? What does that involve... actuallly thats what the forum search feature is for right! :D
#7
Well I\'ve disconnected all 4 now so just gotta test it!

Do you not reckon that switch on the side of the gearbox is replaceable then?

Although it does crunch the gears when going down from 3rd to 4th which isn\'t too good either!

Harrumph, the 10A fuse has blown again (after about 5 miles in fifth this time). Just had to drive 20 miles in 4th! Guess I\'ll try disconnecting the two remaining wires too then...

Cheers for your help guys, I\'ve diconnected the black and black/blue cables and so far been into fifth 3-4 times without the fuse blowing (admittedly not for very long yet but it blew very quickly yesterday when I tested).

These are the connectors I disconnected.

Left two still connected a red and a black with yellow stripe... Also my reverse light still works... :Thumbs-up

Yep thats definitely the problem, just ran it up and down my street and once I got into 5th the 15A fuse popped again!

Weird! So by disconnecting the connectors do I lose the reverse light?

Cheers for your help on this fella\'s - I can\'t imagine how long it would have taken me to work it out otherwise :D

Urm... I would have been in 5th when they blew, but not as soon as I changed (it\'s a manual btw!) Sounds like there\'s a story here :D

Hi wondering if anyone can help...

I taxed and MOTed my UK cab at the weekend (hasn\'t been driven since October) and I\'ve just taken it out for the first journey since the MOT. However after about 5 miles (on a dual carriageway) the engine just cut out.

I managed to get it up to a roundabout and off the road (phew). Turns out the 10A fuse marked \'METER\' had blown.
Now the only electrical thing I\'d done was just swapped the head unit out (from an old Kenwood to a newer one). Could that be related?

I replaced the fuse and off I went only for it to blow again a mile or so on.

I was out of 10A\'s but stuck a 15A in and pulled the head unit out (just in case!) Got home and loaded up on 10 amp fuses then attempted my journey again.

Yep a couple of miles out it cuts again only this time its the 15A ENGINE fuse.
And this time it takes an indicator bulb with it (also the brake pedal seemed to push down a lot further than before). So I replace the 15A and decide enough is enough and head home.

Sooo... I\'m guessing theres an electrical problem somewhere! :yes

Any tips on where to start?

Yup :D Bringing my FC cab the entire 10 miles from Kettering! Also getting a friend to drive my Altezza over (hope thats ok - being non-rotary and all!) ;)

71. Dezzah with FC and Altezza + at least 2

(I\'ll be purchasing tickets tomorrow as trying to work out how many friends are coming - got 3 so far - I\'m in Kettering y\'see)

Wow, mine looked similar (though not as bad) this time last year - daylight through the passenger footwell and all...
Luckily a mechanic father who doesn\'t charge for welding large lumps of metal back on comes in handy now and again!

Although both my rear arches are going to need sorting soon
