Was It You I Spotted? / Black Rx-7 in Bury St Edmunds
November 29, 2007, 06:39:06 PM
Spotted you on Tuesday at about 8pm outside St Edmundsbury Cathedral,
Bury St Edmunds.
A black \'J\' reg type R with a \'96 type rear spoiler.
You stood out a mile from all the adjacent bland, modern and utilitarian vehicles.
Even on a dark night in darkest Suffolk, the beauty and unique nature of
the RX-7 reflected well the surrounding Christmas lights and illuminations.
Salutations from a fellow \'J\' reg, even if my beast was tucked up safe
in my garage at home.
Best wishes,

3rd generation RX-7's / Some rx7 help please
October 19, 2007, 09:22:51 PM
Dear  Colin,
I bought my Rex from Jimmy\'s in 2004. Every year I am very happy to take it back to Andrew for servicing because of the exceptional and personal service.
You will be in good hands. Thoroughly recommended.
Best wishes,

Dear Philo,
I have no difficulty fitting my road racing bike into my 7 when
going to races or for for a short touring holiday break, usually
in the fantastic rolling and hilly countryside of Dorset and Wiltshire.
Tried and tested:Saddle and seat pin out, both wheels in the boot,
bicycle in the rear, with the handlebars turned.
Problem solved!
Best wishes,

Insuring your rotary / Heritage Insurance
October 25, 2006, 07:04:57 PM
Dear Grinder,
I am also with Heritage Insurance. Have been with them for
two years.
Seem to understand Japanese import requirements.
They are flexible, friendly and approachable.
Curently costs £268 fully comp (92 Gen 3) with 3,000 miles annual
maximum milegae.
That would be 3,000 wonderful smiley miles.

Dear Kash 5,
Many thanks for posting this. Well worth the viewing, as are some
of the additional features of the site.
No matter how much I learn about the mechanics and workings of
the rotary engine it is still a bit of a mystery, and confirms the
vision and genius of Felix Wankel. A deserved posthumous Nobel
prize surely!

Was It You I Spotted? / RX-8s - are they waking up.
April 19, 2006, 08:49:41 PM
Ah! The Etiquette of waving! What to Do?
When I am in my MX-6 I wave to other MX-6 drivers.
When in the Rex, if I have time, I raise the headlights in greeting.
I am often chastised by my sister (an occasional passenger) for
waving to other Rex/MX-6 drivers. She opines that women don\'t
have the same connection to their vehicles as men.
She is just being polite, as what she really means (as my hand hovers
near the ejector seat!)is that women do not exhibit the same
level of devotion....or..fanaticism to their vehicles. There may be
something in this as I have noticed tht female drivers of the above
tend not to respond. Could be my toothy grin, and manic wave, or
a natural reticence to engage with a stranger. Perhaps we take for
granted the natural connection we have with our vehicles, and asssume
that disinterested bystanders engage with the distinct presence
of these cars?
With respect to a recent thread....Mazda always have made individual
an unique vehicles, but the majority of respodents to this post are correct..
the majority of RX-8 owners are unaware of the rotary heritage.

General Technical / Seen this before, cracked key?
November 06, 2005, 03:54:28 PM
Dear G@NDY,
I have had difficulties with keys breaking at the point in the shank that
you indicate. Including one breaking in the ignition barrel of my MX-6!
It is indeed a weak point in the design of the key.
I thank heaven for remote locking and entry on my FD via the immobiliser.

Just to recommend to you fellow rotary hooligans an excellent
and substantial article in the July 2004 edition of Japanese Performance magazine. The article ( accompanied by some comprehensive photography) compares the RX-8 with a 2001
Spec Type R. This as we know is a somewhat contrived comparison, but more satisfying than the usual tedious contrived
"showdowns" with the Nissan or Golf.
Naturally both beasties are winners, and the article also tries to communicate any latent disadvantages in both vehicles.
The photography is unobtrusive but revealing, and particularly
the side-by-side comparison pictures. The originality and pure beauty of the FD is confirmed as is the Mazda/Rotary "DNA" evident in the RX-8.

Dear Andyrose,
A vehicle exactly fitting your description was offered for sale recently at Otter Trade Sales in Fletton Avenue, Fletton Peterborough, which as you may know is but a stones throw from Yaxley. This brings to four the number of FD\'S that I am aware of in this locality.
Best Wishes,
