Gutted that I missed the cake almost as much as the lost track time.  Glad that everyone who didn't anger the reliability gods had a great day.  Nick D nicely gave me a half credit, so I will book next year as soon as it goes on sale.

That's 10s quicker than I managed in my RX-8 last month.  Got to just 2s behind my RX-7 time that day.

Dyno sheets of a street car, running e85. If this kind of power isn't enough for you then I don't know what to say.

Thats on the 8374,bot the 8474 you are getting

Old eyes struggling to see that
If it's 500hp that's  more than I need
I can easily cancel and defer to the 8374 .
I just thought I'd try the 8474 is an improvement on the 8374 that I'd be better with it
Not for BHP just all round improvement

From what I understand, the 8474 flows about 10% more than the 8374. Other than sizing differences, I'm not aware of any technology improvements on the newer 8474, so it's really a case of deciding how much power you want, and how much boost you want to run to get there.

The 8374 will spool slightly earlier, have better transient response and will still get to 500bhp at somewhere around 1.2-1.3bar, which is just about where it's entering its efficiency zone.

Once spooled, the 8474 will make easier work, which could be beneficial in temperature management, given that the EFRs are known for running pretty hot.

Depends on your goals and what you intend to use the car for I guess. I'd probably go with the 8374 if you're going to use it on the road and 8474 if it's going to be track only.

The next car will have most of the same parts. I will probably do the odd track day, but it'll be more of a road car. I don't fancy crashing another one, so would be picky about which tracks to visit

Both former cars now. That RX8 had Cusco sway bars but otherwise stock. The FD was extensively modified and was on a EFR 8374 IWG turbo running about 1.1 bar so based on others with that turbo, I would estimate at least 450bhp.

On the Bentley straight the FD could hit 135mph, whereas the RX8 just tops 110mph.

I only managed a handful of laps in the FD, so there's room for improvement. Some of the other FD guys I've been there with have managed sub 2.20 laps.

I honesty don't know
Good for 400 I hope

The IWG EFRs are known for not to be able to hold low boost levels without creeping. My 8374 wouldn't stay less than 0.9 bar. You'll be above 400bhp even at that level on an 8474.

Fun thread. The only track I've driven both cars at is Snetterton. 2 dry days in an 8 with a best lap of 2.31. I did 2.25 on my 2nd session in the FD before play time was abruptly ended lol.  The long straights really favour a powerful car, even though the RX8 is more capable through the faster corners like Coram.

Thats to me as i put a fair bit of work his way,  and do not set him any time limits.. my eunos  was done by him on that criteria, public first.
I suspect 2.5 to 3k. Introduced via me. Last 7 he done was mint.

Ah fair enough. Still very reasonable if the quality is good.

£2k for a full respray! That's cheap. If he's good I'll have to bare that in mind. Plenty of things to spend my money on first though...

Was cheap considering the parts. Even with the risk of needing another rebuild after sitting so long. I can imagine some people snapping that up just to get their hands on the RZ Recaros as they command ridiculously silly money.

Will be interested to read your opinion of the track afterwards. Haven't heard much about it but given that it's one of my closer options I'll probably give it a go next year.

Belongs to Craig at Top Gear Stockport.  I've seen his build thread on another forum and the amount of custom work he's done and the standard of the car is very impressive. Saw it in the flesh at japfest a few years ago too. Made mine look rather shabby parked just behind it... Great buy for someone.

Hi MightyCondor - great to see and chat to you on Friday at North Weald about your rotary "fleet"  :13:

For some reason, notification of your payment didn't come through to the Team here. Not a problem, as I can see the forum system has registered your subscription, even if it didn't tell us  ;)

I've now manually upgraded you account to Full Membership status and sent an email to Lisa to ask if she would be kind enough to send an email to REIS to confirm your membership  :)

:welcome: to the MRC and I hope you get your FD back soon  :great: In the meantime, enjoy your RX-8!

Thanks Casey, was a pleasure to meet you too on Friday.  Hope you had as much fun on the day as I did.  It was a good way to rekindle the rotary love after a challenging year of not driving the FD.  :icon_thumleft:

Thanks for taking care of the membership issues.  I'll have to have a more in-depth browse of the site when I get some time.
