Interesting thread mate! But I can't help wondering what went off with you getting an engine rebuild then very quicker a rotar tip is thrown? Then you go back to the same guy for another rebuild?  Hmm :-/

Surprised you haven't put it back on pistonheads Charlie

I emailed Carl at Haywood and he says there is no such thing as Haywood Rotary North :| Or am I missing something here?

I was wondering if there is anyone around here with a 3rd gen RX7 that I could look at? A passenger ride would be ideal and I would also like to know if I could fit in one ;-) (I'm a little tall) just don't fancy travelling for miles to find out they're not my cup of tea!
It would be much appreciated :-)

Wow some good reply's here :-) I look forward to getting in one and seeing what all the fuss is about ;-) it is funny because my dad is doing his best to convince me to get a subaru...I shall resist!

Thanks for the great reply's everyone! :)

I guess it will all boil down to the test drive on Sunday (praying for the weather!) I'm should be visiting 'CharlieP' as he has a white FD and possibly a black single turbo'd FD for sale. I'm not that bothered about waking the neighbours as it won't be used to commuting and as it is the 5 cars in the household, 3 are decatted anyway :D It's mainly going to be used on the weekends so I can live with the fuel bill :)

In regards to FD's, does anyone know what the  standard clutch can take? Someone mentioned having a triple plate clutch for a single turbo one.

Thanks again :D

What a strange reply! I'm trying to get comments off people who run them as a daily and if they would say it's a feasable thing to do and not too much hassle, as that is what I'm after doing myself.

I think you've got the wrong end of the stick mate.

Would be nice to hear from people who run them everyday or (like me) whenever they're home from work :) I'm hankering after a 3rd gen as a xmas present to myself ;-) ::)

Quote from: HaywardRotary;884313Still got that one for sale yes.
I meant about the flooding don\'t believe everything you read on the net, these cars were driven by ordinary people in the first place so as long as its a good condition and very well maintained RX7 you shouldn\'t have any probs.
Maintenance is king with rotaries, it prevents so many issues:wiggle

Quote from: samoht;884315When I got my FD I was concerned about turning it off cold, after all I\'d read. Then one time I started it up from cold, and after ten seconds the low coolant buzzer went off, so I instinctively shut it off straight away. It re-started without any trouble, so my worrying hadn\'t been necessary. (Obviously I topped up the coolant first).

So at least on my FD, it isn\'t a problem.

Thanks for the replies I think it\'s looking good for me to take the plunge! Just have to get home now and find a friendly insurer ;-)

A random question here but why don\'t you lot front a team to enter totb every year? I\'ve been every year (except this one) since 2003 and it\'s always been a good gathering. Better now that Redline don\'t hold the reigns. I do remember a small number of FD\'s competing in the early days and the last one to have a go was Dragon Performance\'s drag RX7. That was certainly a crowd favourite :)

I\'m going to have to read through your build thread :) Got to say though there is a trend with your cars and I\'m starting to thinking maybe you have the worlds only rotary powered lawn mower? ;)

Thank me later when you\'ve made your millions:D:guinness

That\'s interesting robo pal. You say \'properly mapped\' do you mean by a different tuner other than Hayward or live mapping?

Cheers for your reply mate :) It does help clear things up and and makes me feel a bit better about the issue.

I guess my main problem now is when I get one is explaining this to my dad if he decides to move the car so he can get his cobra kit car out of the garage...I may have to put a reminder post-it note on the steering wheel for him ;-) (having said that he does like driving my cars so he will probably take it for a cheeky spin every now and again when I\'m away to erm de-coke the engine :P)
