Quote from: Grizzly;859559Your best of getting actual quotes, if i was you i\'d be asking about locally which Bodyshops have good reputations (even Google for bad experiences) then pay each one a visit and have a chat with them. Some shops don\'t like doing Colour changes so you might get spanked and some shops will look at a Colour change as nice steady work if there Quiet so will give you a decent price, get at least three qoutes and try to sus out what standard of finish there putting out (don\'t forget the Estimator is nothing short of a Sales man so try not to take in too much of his sales speech :) )

I used to Work in a Bodyshop and i know all the £££ is in the Labour costs, we always used to take things like Door handles, wing repeaters, Bumpers off etc and you could loose two days in the Strip work so may be worth asking if you pulled it apart/Rebuilt it what would the difference in price be??  Don\'t be tempted to do any of the Prep work your self, i know people will tell you it will save you money but unless you know your stuff the bodyshop is likely to take off most of the Prep time so if the repairs are not that hot they won\'t have time to sort it out and i know allot of painters that will just paint over it.

Also i know this is going to sound Obvious but having a low bake oven in the Bodyshop makes a Huge difference to the Longevity of the Paint Job.

There is nothing worse than a Bad Paint job, it will either make the car look a million dollars or a shed one step of the breakers so do your home work and pick some where good rather than cheap.
Well said ive been a painter for over 10 years now some of the cheap resprays ive seen come through the door for re work have been truly unbelievable not to mention the guys who have come for a quote gone off watched some youtube videos got a little brave decided to have ago at home with spray cans then come back lol OMG

thanks for the info yes it seems an un easy to task with no benchmark to work from for the reasons you mentioned. Im going to look at a standard one with a engine build done 4000k ago has had one owner from import and last owner has had it for 9 years so sounds like a geniuing sale so fingers crossed on that one. when clicking on the link it takes me to the vbulltien message??

i will be coming along to this meet if thats okey? I dont have an rx but am looking so will be good to come down have a chat and see your cars

Thanks for the info samoht im not looking to track the car i want it for road purposes cruises and to attend shows and meets. I would like it to be a clean tidy well maintained example and by the sounds of things one thats seen an engine rebuild or low mileage. Have seen a few i like the look of ive found a 1992 fd with a recent rebuild by jimmys for £4.700 then theres others running from 1993 to 1996 but varying from the 4k mark upto 8995k so still baffled
